The Tiny Chip Powering China's Million-Selling Electric Cars! 🚗⚡️
Hey future engineers! 👋 Have you seen the crazy news? Chinese EV giants like BYD and Geely are selling cars faster than ever—some models hit over a million units already! Behind the cool designs and long ranges? Super-smart tiny chips that manage power like a boss. The "little thing" in Electronic Engineering: Power management chips! These microscopic brains sit inside every EV battery system. They act like a super-intelligent traffic controller, deciding exactly how much energy goes from the battery to the motor—helping the car drive farther on one charge, stay cool, and avoid wasting power. Electronic Engineers design these chips to be super efficient, using clever Materials Science to make them smaller, faster, and tougher. Imagine designing the "brain" that makes electric cars go zoom without overheating—that could be you! At CUHK Electronic Engineering, you'll learn chip design, power systems, and Materials Science to build the tech powering the EV revolution. Ready to shape the future of clean transport? Sometimes innovation starts with a simple question: what if machines could truly understand sound?
Prof. Kong turned that question into a journey — building PANNs, a model now used worldwide, and creating GiantMIDI‑Piano, the largest piano MIDI dataset to date. His work continues to shape the future of AI and music, earning recognition such as the IEEE SPS Young Author Best Paper Award in 2022. 🎶🤖✨

The "Invisible" Engineer Behind China's Massive AI Lobster Fever! 🦞🤖

Everyone's going wild over "lobster fever" in China right now—OpenClaw AI agents are everywhere, automating tasks like booking tickets, organizing files, or even managing social media! But here's the cool part: while the AI is software, making it control real-world stuff (like robot arms in factories or pressing physical buttons) needs hardware magic.
The "little thing" in Electronic Engineering: Interfaces between AI and the physical world! Electronic Engineers design the circuit boards, sensors, actuators, and power systems that turn digital AI commands into actual movement. We also dive into Materials Science (better conductors for faster signals) and VLSI chip design (packing billions of transistors onto tiny chips) so AI can "jump" and hardware makes it happen safely and efficiently.
Without these hidden heroes, AI stays stuck in your phone. At CUHK, our Electronic Engineering programme goes beyond apps—we teach you to build the real hardware that powers next-gen AI and robotics. Want to bridge code and the real world? Join us and become the engineer AI depends on! 🚀

🤖 Kung Fu Robot: How Does a Machine Learn to Flip? 🥋

A robot does kung fu on the annual Lunar New Year gala show. Millions watched. 🤯🥋 First, he kicks. Then he flips. Then he lands like a ninja. But here's the question nobody asks: How does a pile of metal and wires learn martial arts?

Inside that robot is a microcontroller—a chip smaller than your fingernail. It processes 1,000+ signals per second from gyroscopes and accelerometers. One wrong calculation? It eats dirt. Get it right? You get perfection. 🎯

💪 THE MUSCLES
Robots don't have biceps. They have actuators—devices that turn electricity into motion. The Unitree bot has ~40 of them. Engineers tune each one like a violin string: too much power and it flails, too little and it can't stand. Getting it smooth? That's motion control. And it's harder than it looks. 😅

🦴 THE BONES
hat robot weighs less than your school bag. Why? Materials science. Engineers use aircraft-grade aluminum (light but strong) and carbon fiber (same stuff as F1 cars). If it were steel? Too heavy to jump. Too brittle? It shatters on landing.

🎯 WHY THIS MATTERS
Tomorrow, these bots could:
🏥 Help surgeons operate
🚒 Crawl into burning buildings
👴 Assist your grandparents

And someone has to build them.

🔧 AT CUHK, WE TEACH:
Electronic Engineering isn't just soldering circuits. It's bringing machines to life. Making them think. Controlling every move with microscopic precision.

No kung fu required. Just curiosity. 😉

👉 Ready to build the future?
Explore CUHK Electronic Engineering. The robots are waiting. 🦾
