Thank you to the Black Family Foundation for helping our makerspace thrive with their $3,000 donation for the 2023-24 school year. Thanks to their generosity, we've added many specialized new tools, including ratcheting wrench sets, specialized Allen Key sets, various shop brushes, X-Acto Knife sets, and self-healing mats for every workstation. A significant portion of the donation upgraded our RC aeronautical corner, making Lithium Polymer (Li-Po) batteries easier to manage with the purchase of Spektrum's Smart battery charging and discharging systems, two Spektrum S2100 chargers, and 10 Smart LiPo batteries. We also upgraded all our receivers, purchasing ten AR631 DSMX 6-Channel AS3X & SAFE Receivers for easier programming and flying. Additionally, we have earmarked $500 of this donation for a makerspace contest award in the upcoming school year. Also, we were thrilled to welcome Janis Black Warner and her husband Doug for a visit into our educational space. Your generous support enhances the educational experience at OVS, providing more opportunities for students to thrive and excel in their creative learning pursuits. The Black Family Foundation

Thank you again to the Gene Haas Foundation for working with our students and supporting the OVS Robotics program with your $3,000 in support! You helped our teams to purchase many needed items for this year's game! GoBuilda Steel Viper-Slides, Green Opaque Acrylic Sheets for CNC cutting, Odoetry Wheels, a Bambu Carbon X1 Combo 3D Printer with Extra Nozels, Plates, and Filament, and a set of Slim 12 volt Battery Packs! You gave our teams a big boost this year, thanks to your generous support!

Congratulations to William Ramsay and Karin Hahn, winners of our first Gene Haas-sponsored OVS Robotics Computer Aided Manufacturing Contest! William took 1st place ($1,200 scholarship) for his robot's "pixel placement" device, and Karin took runner-up ($800 scholarship) for her robot's exoskeleton. Students had to use original designs that utilized OVS's CNC machine, Laser Cutter, or 3D printers.

OVS Robotics had a great day of competing at our annual Inter-league Tournament where 22 teams in the Southern California showed up. We are not one of the 6 teams advancing to the Regional Championships, but our Senior Team, Spudnik made it to the semifinals. And Spudbot had a 3-2 winning record for the day! We are proud of our teams and their hard work and dedication to this years game, Centerstage. We are already looking forward to next year’s game!

Thank you to the Gene Haas Foundation (genehaasfoundation) we were able to purchase some shorter linear slides, especially needed for this year's FTC Robotics Centerstage game. Students installed them at just the right angle to deliver the pixel game elements!
