La cinquième édition du semestre international d’Ocellia pour étudiants européens en travail social commence cette semaine à Lyon.

24 étudiants, provenant de Scandinavie, de Belgique, d’Allemagne, des Pays-Bas, d’Autriche, d’Italie et de Roumanie vont ainsi passer 5 mois avec nous pour un semestre de formation en anglais auquel contribuent de nombreux formateurs
d’Ocellia et d’ailleurs. 🌍

Ghent voted best city in Europe to go on an Erasmus student exchange The East Flemish city of Ghent has been named the "Erasmus Destination of the Year 2023" at an international conference.

News from our projectleader Wendy Eerdekens: We are happy to inform you about the Erasmus+ Panda project. With 8 partners from 4 countries (Belgium, Norway, Northern Ireland and Spain), policy officers, practitioners and academics/trainers, we learn how the participation of young children in youth care can be strengthened.
After transnational visits and exchanges with practitioners, the results are step-by-step processed into texts, webinars, podcasts and videos.

What an inspiring week at Mens en Samenleving Arteveldehogeschool . We hosted our colleagues from University of Rwanda social work & social sciences. So many interests to share: supervision, coaching, practice learning, homegrown initiatives... Differences in context, but so common in striving for quality. Warm connection.

An award from Gent city for "youth friendly new initiatives".... Our students did collaborate in a brand new Youth work organisation near Watersprotbaan in Ghent. Well done.

Op 6 december werden de Jong en Wijs Awards van de stad Gent uitgereikt, aan personen en organisaties die zich in Gent engageren voor kind- en jeugdvriendelijke initiatieven. Er waren meer dan 70 nominaties. In de categorie "Projectpluim" (voor samenwerkingen tussen het middenveld en de Stad Gent) viel Jeugdwerking Watersportbaan in de prijzen. Uit het juryrapport:
Studenten van de Arteveldehogeschool, bachelor sociaal werk, hebben in het najaar van 2021 i.s.m. verschillende partners zoals jeugdstraathoekwerk en buurtwerk een jeugdwerking opgestart voor de jongeren van de Watersportbaan. Ze zijn er in snel tempo in geslaagd om een jeugdwerking uit te bouwen voor de jongeren (14-18 jaar) uit de sociale hoogbouw. Ze hebben naast instuifmomenten op woensdagnamiddag en vrijdagavond verschillende activiteiten georganiseerd voor de jongeren. Het mooie aan dit project is dat er via community service learning werd ingezet op de (hoge) nood van jongeren om een plek te hebben waar ze zich kunnen ontplooien en onvoorwaardelijk jong kunnen zijn in een veilige context. Ondertussen is er een halftijdse jeugdwerker aan de slag en is er via een studentenjob ook een bijkomend aanbod dat zich specifiek richt op de meisjes van de wijk. Ondanks dat dit over tijdelijke middelen gaat, blijven alle partners zoeken naar opportuniteiten om dit mooie verhaal te kunnen blijven continueren.
