The pure joy of tobogganing is unparalleled ❤️

Risky play is super important for little kiddos and grownups alike. It helps us develop our capacity to cope with unexpected outcomes and adversity, manage our emotions and reactions, and understand our physical capabilities.

It's always worth remembering that neurodivergent brains and bodies often struggle to regulate their temperature and recognize when they are getting too cold. Keep an eye on little ones who might need a reminder to check in with their body... Or big ones like me that also need reminding to hydrate 🐿️

What do you see when you look at a pinecone?

Kiddos are able to see so many possibilities that the world hasn't yet washed away for them. It's so important that we give them space to create their own magic in the world and for us to facilitate opportunities for them to create their own play.

Play is after all how kiddos learn. Adults too but that's a post for another day.

One of the core ways we help kiddos create their own magic at forest school is through play with 'loose parts'.

So what are the benefits of playing in Nature with 'loose parts' - these are things like sticks, cones, rocks, you get the idea.

🌱 kiddos play freely without expectations

🌱 encourages creativity and imagination

🌱 fosters pretend and symbolic play

🌱 Great for conversation and interaction

🌱 encourages problem solving

🌱 improves social and emotional interactions

The world can be a beautiful place, let's give the little ones a chance to enjoy it for as long as they can ✨
