The last two weeks the The University of Scranton welcomed the Class of 2030 on campus for 4 different orientation sessions. Dr. Scardillo and Dr. Hakim presented to students accepted into the Guaranteed DPT Seat Program and their parents at a session during each orientation. They had a wonderful time meeting all the smiling faces and are excited to welcome all of the new Guaranteed students onto campus this fall!

Did you know that UofS had a Guaranteed DPT Seat program? Students can apply to the program when applying for undergrad admission to the University of Scranton. They are then required to meet various pre requisites and a minimum GPA and are offered entry into the DPT program upon graduation. Check out the latest publication in the Journal of Science in Sport and Exercise from Scranton DPT faculty, Dr. Mike Crowell, his group of student researchers (now Alumni) Drs Ryan Peterson, Michael DiLullo, Shane McKeon, and Cameron Young, and collaborator from the West Point Division 1 Sports PT Fellowship, Dr. Jamie Morris. They found that:

-Gait retraining with real-time feedback is associated with clinically meaningful reductions in pain, but it is unclear if it is superior to other interventions in running-related lower extremity pain.
-Gait retraining with real-time feedback is associated with improvements in self-reported function, particularly with protocols promoting a non-rearfoot strike and increased step rate.
