*** Can you help with research? *** 🙏🔬
Finding information on taking medications you have been prescribed whilst breastfeeding can be a real struggle. It can also be really difficult to know what medications are okay for milk donors to take during their donation. We are proud to be working with Dr Simon Cameron at Queen's University Belfast to help make the evidence stronger, and we need your help to do it!
If you are currently breastfeeding and taking a prescribed antidepressant medication, we would like to invite you to take part in a study being run by Queen’s University Belfast and the Hearts Milk Bank. At the moment we can only accept mothers taking an anti-depressant, but hope that this first study will then allow more medications to be studied.
At this stage of the study, the research team are trialling an at-home sampling kit to see if this is a suitable way of collecting samples for future research. To help with this, breastfeeding mothers who are currently taking a prescribed antidepressant medication can help by completing an at-home sample collection kit consisting of expressed breastmilk, a saliva sample, and a blood spot from a finger prick sample (similar to what is used for measuring blood sugar levels).
If you would like to take part, please complete this short questionnaire at: https://bit.ly/2XRRPd7 and you will be contacted by a member of the research team.
Please share widely!
