Exciting Day! Just spotted our first toad spawn in our pond. Just in time for school visits to start again!🐸
Toad spawn is laid in long strings rather than big clumps like frogs spawn. If you look closely you will soon be able to see the tadpoles wriggling in their clear, jelly-like eggs.

Exciting things are coming...

This is the rare Grass Eggar Caterpillar. They live in on sand dunes and sea cliffs around the south cost of the UK but aren't common in The Lizard. They will mature in late June and become moths. We found these ones on the cliffs around the Lizard Lighthouse.

I have had a lovely afternoon on a course learning about outdoor education from a Forest school perspective with the lovely Rachael from Educating Kids Outdoors
We played hide and seek in the woods and made dragon eggs with clay and things we found in the woods (mine is a dragon egg for a very feathery dragon).

This week I have been attending a very interesting and informative CEVAS training at Frogmary Green Farm. CEVAS helps to deliver farm visits and make them informative and educational as well as fun for children.

We focused on making farm visits safe and national curriculum linked, to support schools and parents in teaching children, and helping them develop important life skills.
