RIP Muhammad Ali "The Greatest" ==> Parkinsonian Pugilistica ✓
In light of his demise we wish to share with our readers about a very important condition which is High Yield for Step 1 and Step 2 CK but is not discussed well elsewhere.

Parkinsonian Pugilistica is a condition which involves the loss of neurons in the brain and collection of proteinaceous material which leads to Dementia + Parkinson's disease.

3 things which are High Yield and must know:
1. Loss of neurons in the nigrostrial pathway leads to Parkinson's disease.
2. Neurofibrillary tangles in the Cortex leads to Alzheimer's disease.
3. Diffuse Axonal Injury is also seen and is detrimental to many neuronal pathways.

Muhammad Ali suffered from all of this which contributed to his demise. 15-20% boxers suffer this condition because of repeated head trauma. It is also known as:
- Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE)
- Boxer's dementia
- Punch-Drunk syndrome
