While my mother Patricia D Wright was physically among us, I was on my post.

During her time of illness, I was on my post.

After her physical departure from among us now 23+ years, I remain on my post.

Tonight, Woodward Technical Highchool convened the 2026 Seniors Day Awards banquet. Bilal Wright, grandson of Patricia D Wright, presented the Patricia D Wright scholarships to our 2026 PDW Scholars. It was a monumental event that highlighted the achievements of young African American students from an inner city highschool. Unfortunately, something you will not see showcased on the local news because positivity doesn’t sell.

We are honored to assist these young people in their future endeavors to have a successful educational experience and life.

The Patricia D Wright Foundation is proud to announce our four scholarship winners (“PDW SCHOLARS”). Each scholarship recipient will receive via direct payment to their university/college/trade school of choice a $1,250 scholarship, a WiFi enabled computer tablet and a copy of Wright On My People’s book Social Transformation. Our recipients in some cases hold parttime jobs, and they are involved in National Honor Society, sports, art, design and various community activities.

The key factors in awarding scholarships for the Patricia D Wright Foundation are:

-Academic performance of 2.5 or above;
-Economic need;
-Community service
-Participation in school activities

For example, if Student A already has a full scholarship based on academic merit, and Student B does not have a scholarship but has good grades, our methodology leans towards awarding our scholarship to Student B simply because Student B has economic need to attend college/trade school that Student A does not have due to having a full scholarship.

IN HONOR OF UNCLE RONALD TEASLEY…

Be it resolved on this day Sunday, February 8, 2026, the Board of Trustees (“BoT”) of the Patricia D Wright Foundation & Scholarship Fund Inc. convened a special meeting to authorize $500 -sent today-to the Ron & Marie Teasley Foundation in honor of our uncle Ronald Teasley who recently passed away. Ron lived both an extra extraordinary and exemplary life. No matter whether you were close to or far away from Uncle Ron you witnessed and observed a rare phenomenon in a human being. A man of multiple talents, a great father and educator to many beyond his athletic prowess in professional baseball and an avid golfer, Ron was also member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. And while Ron may be physically departed from among us, his work, his legacy and his life will live on forever through those of us who gladly pick up the baton and keep running with it.🙏🏾 So we mourn the loss of our physical connection to Uncle Ron, but will celebrate the life of a life well lived👈🏽

In our family, the Wright Dant Scott Teasley family, education is a very, very high focus endeavor. Dating back to the mid-1980s, there was the Samuel R Wright scholarship fund which supported and assisted financially students from the church he pastored. In 2016-2017, the Patricia D Wright foundation was formed and has given nearly $50,000 in scholarship, monies and other support for students. A few years after the Patricia D Wright Foudnation was formed, our family in Detroit created the Ron & Marie Teasley Foundation which has awarded scholarships to highschool students in thenGreater Detroit area.

In conclusion, the BOT of the Patricia D Wright Foundation thought it was most befitting to support the Ron & Marie Teasley Foundation as MLB has done to award scholarships in the Detroit Michigan area the same as we do in the Cincinnati Ohio area. May the life and legacy of Ron Teasley continue forever

The Patricia D Wright Foundation is pleased to announce on January 30, 2026 , the Foundation has kicked off the 2026 scholarship application process in coordination with Woodward Technical Highschool, formerly Woodward High School, the alma mater of Patricia D Wright, many of her brothers and sisters, as well as, your truly.

We will award at the Woodward Techincal Highschool Seniors’ Banquet four academic scholarship, four computer tablets and four personal development books. The scholarship applications are available through Woodward Technical Highschool’s internal intranet, as well as, through the seniors’ guidance counselor. For us, this is the most wonderful time of the year as we give a financial nudge with community support to our young urban scholars of the future who emerge and stand tall under challenging circumstances and upbringings.

This will be out 10th year of awarding scholarships. We look so forward to this great cause to further education. We thank all of you who make this possible, especially our cousin Dr. Booker Wrighr who made a $25,000 contribution to the Foundation.
