The annual 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign-MTN’s flagship employee volunteerism initiative-was officially launched on June 4, 2025, at the MTN Head Office, Ridge. This year’s theme, “Connecting at the Root,” emphasizes the importance of grounding community impact initiatives in sustainable development and meaningful partnerships.
As part of the launch activities, the CEO of MTN Ghana, Mr. Stephen Blewett, accompanied by a team of MTN staff, paid a special visit to the Opportunities Industrialization Technical Institute (OITI), Accra.
A Warm Welcome at OITI
Upon arrival, Mr. Blewett and his team were warmly welcomed by the Principal of OITI, who delivered a brief history and mission of the institution. In honour of the CEO’s visit, the school’s cadet corps held a parade, which was reviewed by Mr. Blewett. Following this, the Principal led a guided tour of the various departments within the institution.
The tour concluded at the Fashion Department, where MTN staff, alongside fashion trainees, took part in sewing school uniforms destined for donation to a school in the Central Region. This hands-on activity not only highlighted the vocational skills being developed at OITI but also demonstrated the tangible impact of the partnership.
Guests were also treated to a delightful sampling of refreshments prepared by the Catering Department, including sausage rolls, cupcakes, meat pies, melon juice, and cocopine juice - showcasing the culinary talents nurtured at OITI.
This year’s collaboration between MTN and OITI focuses on leveraging technology and vocational skills for inclusive education and community upliftment. The partnership aims to:
Connect at the root to drive grassroots development across Ghana.
Introduce learners to digital skills, empowering them to market their talents and attract service bookings through online platforms.
Promote OITI to a wider audience, highlighting the breadth of technical and vocational training offered.
Showcase student capabilities, such as sewing school uniforms, as a means of practical learning and social contribution.
Through initiatives like these, MTN continues to demonstrate its commitment to social investment and inclusive development, inspiring its employees and partners to give back to the communities in which they operate.
