The school was established on the 7th of December 1974 with a student population of ninety (90) and a staff of four (4) teachers. The land on which the school was started was donated by Mr. S.K Mireku. In 1975, the chiefs and people, led by Nana Kwabena Agyekum offered to the government a one (1) mile square land area for the school. The sod was cut that year for work on permanent structures to co

mmence. The student population today stands at 750. Courses offered are Agricultural Science, Business (Accounting Option), General Arts, General Science and Visual Arts. From its humble beginning, DASHS has produced many high caliber scholars. Many can be found in many spheres of human endeavour. Currently many products are pursuing higher education in the nation’s tertiary instructions. In December 2003, during the 19th Farmer’s Day Celebration held in Cape Coast, DASHS was adjudged the best Second Cycle School in Agriculture in the country. The school has a sister-sister relationship with Hamilton Grammar School in Scotland. A student and staff exchange programme commenced in September 2009. Since then there has been a regular flow of visits to and from Scotland. In September 2011, 5 students and 2 teachers from Hamilton Grammar visited DASHS. In May 2012, 2 teachers and 5 students will pay a reciprocal visit to Hamilton on an education/cultural exchange programme.
