Today’s senior shoutout is to our lovely Vivienne! Since coming to Brandeis from the Bay Area, Viv has been majoring in Environmental Studies with a minor in Anthropology. She plans to work in the sustainability field after graduating. Viv says that her favorite memory in SDT was taking her little, Sophie, and living with her sisters all four years of college. Viv has made our sorority a better place by serving as VPNME, social media chair, and apparel chair. We love you so much, Viv!

Today, we are recognizing one of our seniors who will be graduating this May. Alodie is a Women and Gender studies and IGS major with a minor in Studio Art. She is planning to work as a medical assistant before pursuing a career in midwifery. She came to Brandeis all the way from Knysna, South Africa before joining SDT. She has served as a sisterhood and standards chair and says that her favorite memory from SDT was living with her little Anna, and traveling with her own big. We love you so much Alodie, and we will miss you!

this month, our chapter will be taking time to recognize the beloved DEI aspect of our sorority. starting with our own DEI chair, Elle Mendez. here is what she has to say:

Coming into college, I knew I wanted to rush. I wanted to be a part of a group with empowering girls who support each other hand in hand. However, I was very aware that I was stepping into a predominantly white organization and I was scared that I would either feel excluded, too different, isolated, or lose track of myself and my identity in effort to fit in. My experience with the girls in SDT immediately calmed my worries. My identity never felt isolated, it felt valued. SDT has an appreciation culture when it comes to everyone’s different backgrounds. I have been encouraged to express my mixed identity and share who I am. Because of this, I took the roll of DEI chair. Walking into a PWO can be scary was a woman of color, but our mission is to make sure that everyone feels included and valued through all aspects of their identities and who they are.

Today’s Tuesday is from senior Nathalie Neuhaus: I came to Brandeis knowing I wanted to be in SDT. What I didn’t know was how much of a positive impact it would be on my life. As a senior who rushed first semester freshman year, I can truly say SDT didn’t just shape my college experience, it shaped who I am. I wouldn’t be nearly the person I am today, someone who trusts herself, embraces new challenges, and carries herself with confidence, without the support of this sisterhood. SDT brought me my future bridesmaids, my role models, and women I will carry with me long after graduation. I’ve lived with my sisters, traveled across Europe with them, survived organic chemistry with them, and stayed close with alumni who show me every day that this sisterhood lasts a lifetime. SDT sisters show up for you in every way; they are your biggest cheerleaders and the role models you grow alongside. Looking back, choosing SDT is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and I hope to be one hope of many for future sisters, just as so many before me have been for me.
