We will be discussing what kind of jobs you can apply for with a bachelors in psychology and we will be providing many resources to help you. Dear Psi Chi Students,

Are you interested in learning more about psychology research, building your resume for grad school, or gaining valuable hands-on experience in developmental psychology? Apply to become a Research Assistant! Two different developmental psychology labs at Rutgers-Newark, the Computational Cognitive Development Lab (under the direction of Elizabeth Bonawitz) and the Child Study Center (under the direction of Vanessa LoBue), are looking for undergraduate research assistants to work for credit during the Spring semester 2021. Please see the attached flyer for more information about these opportunities and consider applying! Links to the applications can be found below or on the flyer itself.

Applications will be accepted between now and Sunday, December 6th, 2020 at 11:59 pm ET, and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Our graduate school panel is happening this Monday, November 16th at 11:30-12:50 pm. Meet one of our panelist Caroline Kleeman. Caroline Kleeman, PsyM is a School Psychologist with a strong background in assessment and behavioral intervention. Caroline works with children who have Autism, Learning Disabilities, and/or Comminication disorders. While Caroline has experience in several school and clinic based settings, working with Sesame Street has been a particular highlight in her career. Do you have any questions for Caroline? Clarissa Green-Anicich, PsyD is a licensed psychologist in California who works with the college population. She completed her masters in developmental psychology at Columbia University and her doctorate in psychology at Rutgers University. Meet one of our panelists that will be speaking in our graduate school panel this upcoming Monday! Claudia Pinzon is a proud RU-N graduate and a former Psi Chi RU-Newark chapter President. She is a project coordinator for both the RISC lab and the Child Study Center at Rutgers-Newark. She is currently finishing her master’s thesis on attitudes towards and discrimination against undocumented immigrants. She is the second student to be accepted into the BA/MA program in the Psychology Department. Her passion for research began as a research assistant in undergrad at RU-N and she has been able to combine her love for scientific research and underrepresented groups in her master’s studies. She aspires to continue her career in research and to be able to inform intergroup relations literature with her work and hopefully influence public policy in the future. We are very happy to introduce another panelist that will be speaking in our graduate school panel next Monday. Patryk Ziobro received his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University-Newark in 2018 where he majored in psychology. During his undergraduate studies, he investigated the development of basal forebrain cholinergic neurons in the mouse brain and studied the role of these neurons in visual discrimination in rats. Currently, he is in the Psychology PhD program at Cornell University where he studies the forebrain-to-midbrain circuits that control and regulate Ultrasound Vocalization (USV) production in mice. Hello everyone! We are very happy to introduce one of the panelist that will be speaking in our graduate school panel next week. Arielle J. Walzer, Psy.D. is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Penn Collaborative for CBT and Implementation Science. She earned her doctorate from Rutgers University in 2019, where she worked on the development of a virtual behavior management training program for teachers and on research related to gender bias in schools. She completed training in evidence-based social skills interventions at the NYU Child Study Center and in dialectical behavior therapy at her APA-accredited internship at Pleasantville Union Free School District. Prior to joining the Penn Collaborative, Arielle conducted user experience research and behavioral design at technology companies, including Eight Sleep and Uber. She is passionate about improving access to evidence-based mental healthcare and is interested in using technology to make it more scalable and affordable for those in under-resourced communities.
