FISU Oceania is one of five continental university sport federations.

Our aim is to increase the impact of university sport in the Pacific via participation, engagement, capacity and awareness. FISU Oceania has 12 members including:
American Samoa, Australia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Guam, Marshall Islands, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Northern Mariana Islands, Papua New Guinea and Samoa

Today is World Health Day. Under the theme “Stand with science”, this year’s observance launches a year‑long campaign celebrating the power of scientific collaboration to protect the health of people, animals, plants, and the planet. We also recognise the importance sport and activity has on good health and how it can be used as to prevent long term health costs for communities

Today is International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. FISU Oceania stands united with Sports Federations across the world as we all show our as a symbol of peace through sport. More than a gesture, the embodies a global movement that promotes sport as a tool for building a culture of peace. Sport is a strategic tool for building bridges between people and breaking down barriers to inclusion, leaving no one behind.

Our Friday focus this week is on our member country Guam. Triton Athletics is the sports department on campus at University of Guam - UOG. Students compete in local competitions and on campus sports events. Their Hall of Fame is dedicated to student-athletes who have excelled at their sport and the sports of Baseball, Volleyball, Futsal and Basketball are the most popular sports on campus. The University and Tertiary Sport NZ university rowing championships start today on Lake Karapiro New Zealand. Rivalries are reignited as universities strive to be named overall rowing champion with University of Otago dominating this event in previous years. Good luck to all competitors

We are going WAY back for this . It's 2010 and we are in Papua New Guinea delivering an event management workshop in . It was a great event where we had the opportunity to share our knowledge with our PNG friends

The university calendar year is in full swing and here is a snapshot of the university sport that happened during the month of March across Oceania:
🏃‍♀️ 🥈 Australia and New Zealand compete at the WUC Cross Country with AUS winning a silver medal in the women's short cross 3km.
🤾‍♀️ Australia held their Intervarsity Dodgeball series for the east region.
🙌 Guam held their President's Cup university sport events and gave scholarships to four outstanding student-athletes.
🏐 The Northern Marianas college volleyball club held club events.
🏀 PNG held a Tertiary 3x3 Basketball tournament.
🏸 Students from French Polynesia represented their country at the French badminton championships.

Our Friday focus this week is on our member country Fiji. There are three universities and a number of tertiary institutions on the Pacific island of Fiji. They all come together annually in September for the which sees more than 3,000 students compete across a number of sports. The Games coincide with the annual International Day of University Sport where they join the global movement in celebrating the positive contribution of university sport to university communities.

We are staying with our Fiji theme this week and this Throwback Thursday we remember the Fiji Inter Tertiary Games from 2022. The are an annual celebration of university sport on the island.
