New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani recently joined comedian and podcaster Theo Von on This Past Weekend for a wide-ranging conversation about NYC, socialism, the American Dream, and his experiences as mayor. The episode, released October 1, 2026, runs for about 1 hour and 18 minutes.

The conversation also touched on Mamdani’s views on Israel and the International Criminal Court, making the episode a notable crossover between politics and one of the biggest comedy podcasts.

🎤 R&B Legend Freddie Jackson Dies at 70 🕊️

R&B singer Freddie Jackson, best known for his timeless 1980s hits including “You Are My Lady” and “Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake),” has passed away. His family confirmed his death on October 5, 2026, just days after his birthday.

With a career spanning more than four decades, Jackson became one of R&B’s most recognizable romantic voices, earning two Grammy nominations and multiple No. 1 R&B hits.

Rick Ross gets arrested!!
On October 1st Ross was arrested for felony battery & misdemeanor battery following a domestic violence accusation.

He voluntarily surrendered to Miami Beach Police. His current bond is set at $5,000 although he pleas not guilty. His arraignment is set for October 22nd 2026.

👀 Rihanna vs. EJ Johnson… whose side are you on?

A little Paris Fashion Week drama is making the rounds. 👀

At Dior’s Spring/Summer 2027 fashion show in Paris on September 29, Rihanna was one of the celebrity guests in attendance. After the show, fashion personality and TV star EJ Johnson posted a recap praising the show, but also called out Rihanna for arriving late.

According to EJ, the Dior show started about an hour late because Rihanna was late. EJ added that they “didn’t care to wait for her.”

Then things got interesting. 👀

A few days later, a video surfaced of EJ having trouble getting back into their Paris hotel after posing for photographers outside. Rihanna appeared in the comments and left just one word:

“Damn.” 😭

Now the internet is debating whether Rihanna was simply commenting on the hotel situation… or whether this was her subtle way of saying “Oh, you wanted to call me out?” 😂

Neither Rihanna nor EJ has confirmed that the comment was a direct response to the Dior drama.
