With deep aroha and immense sadness, we announce the peaceful and sudden passing of our much-loved Wharerata Paora (Sonny Paul) on 15 November 2025.

Ko ia te pou tokomanawa o tōna whānau. Deeply treasured husband of Materori Elena (Lena) Wihapi-Paul. Precious Dad of Wharerata Paora, Kane Paora and Simone. Adored Koro of Luna and peepi Kreed Wharerata.
Son of Makuini Maxwell (Nō Awahou) and Manutawhiorangi Paul (Tapuika). A dearly loved brother, cousin, nephew uncle, Koro and friend to many.

Kāhore he kupu e ea ai te ngaukino o tēnei ngarohanga.

Dad will lie at Makahae Marae, Te Kahika from this afternoon. ETA 5.00pm
His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11.00am. He will buried at Tūhourangi Marae urupā.

What an awesome season we’ve had! 🎉 Our netball teams have shown so much growth out on the court this year.

A huge mihi and thank you to:
•Our amazing coache/management/umpiring crew and helpers who gave their time and energy every week.
•Our players, who trained hard, played with heart and represented us with pride.
•Parents, Grandparents and other family members and supporters who turned up rain or shine, cheering us on and keeping the spirit alive.

This season wasn’t just about winning games, but about whanaungatanga – building strong connections, manaakitanga – looking after each other, and having fun together.
While we would’ve preferred to acknowledge all players with a medal, we needed to pick 3.
