Congratulations, Esther ❤️
This week, we recognize Esther DeJong, CNM, MPH as our Midwife of the Week. Esther has founded and participated in multiple practices over the years including being a partner in the first CNM practice in New Orleans, the state's first CNM owned independent practice, and the state's first in-hospital birth center. After Hurricane Katrina, Esther worked tirelessly to return to New Orleans and reestablish her practice so that birthing people would continue to have access to in-hospital midwifery care, water birth, and support. Esther has used her role in the affiliate as the Legislative Liaison to build partnerships with other organizations and to promote midwifery whenever possible. She has never wavered in her support of our profession and of our professional organization. Members can read more about Esther in the Weekly CEO Update email.
