The Devil Unbound

The Solar eclipse happened and passed, and the world didn't end. Still, the conspiracy nuts who delighted in fearmongering nonsense will not offer the apology they owe the world.

This kind of stupidity is a worse problem than many we face today. In fact, it is this kind of thinking that often leads to support atrocities around the world and in our own backyard.

I guess they were wrong about "The End" this time (yet again), but the g**s, the g**s and the immigrants are still coming for our children.



PS: Only the visibly non-white immigrants, that is. How could I possibly be so insensitive?

The Gay and Trans Agenda

I never take criticism of my ideas or beliefs personally. For long, I’ve known that everything is subject to respectful debate.

Concerning to many, is my reception of inquires into my worldview as adorable or exciting. “You must not have a real stance, or you don’t believe in anything,” say some of my friends on either side of the political spectrum, who never see me angry at challenges to my positions.

Apparently, my political views “don’t make any sense.”

On the contrary, my stance, even from my extraordinarily limited vantage point, is on the truth. And the truth is often impermanent — it changes with new evidence.

And the concept of evidence is problematic, is it not?

To some of us it means tangible proof of a proposition’s merit; it is a direct measure of an idea’s epistemic value. It incontrovertibly shows that something is true.

Still, to too many out there, evidence is simply validation of what they like, of what feels good to them. It’s emotional confirmation of previously held beliefs.

This latter definition fits the current attacks on the LGBT community. These marches labeling all gay people as groomers or pointing to the “trans agenda” as something to fear are emotional responses to biased socio-political discourse.

I’ll preface the rest of my rant by stating that I understand predators come in all shapes and sizes. Statistically, the vast majority of crimes against children are committed by people in or close the family.

Now, when I say that these marches are a reflection of hate and ignorance of people and concepts that are difficult to understand, I’m not blaming all the people in those marches.

Perhaps, a large portion of the people in these protests follow the direction of others in their social and familial circles. Still, and to a greater detriment, many others respond to the rhetoric of political pundits and talking heads with books to sell. Possibly, some of these people truly feel they’re “doing it for the children,” such is the goal of indoctrination; it mutes our need to ask questions.

But the problem is always the same: the uncritical acceptance of ideas because they feel right or because they come from the right source.

However, the truth is under no obligation to make you feel good, the truth is indifferent to your feelings.

In the end, as I said before, the value of truth fluctuates under different lights. And truth can only be seen properly under the lights of honest inquiry and proper investigation… two concepts not natural to the human mind.

I’ll finish with this.

If you reject gay or trans humans’ right to a peaceful existence because Peterson, Shapiro, or Scheer told you should, you’re neither thinking clearly nor following evidence. You’ve been manipulated by professional grifters.

If you take part in these marches helping spread lies and promulgating unfounded conspiracy nonsense about people you don’t understand, your behaviour IS hateful not helpful.

There is a gay and trans agenda, as it turns out, and its directive is simple: to be allowed to live without fear of persecution.

Remember that this was the supposed “black agenda” not long ago, and many of the people organizing these marches still believe that black humans don’t deserve the same rights as others.
