Hi friends! I wanted to let you know that I’ll be singing at the Rossini Festival this year! I will be on the Clinch Avenue Stage on Saturday April 18 at 12:30pm singing with Maurice Hendricks. I’ll do some opera, some art song, some musical theater and some Disney. It should be loads of fun and the festival is always a great time. I hope to see you there!

Returning to social media for a brief “YAY” post! We have been busy over here and I want to brag on some singers. Danny Davis placed 2nd in Classical and 3rd in musical theater at our competition this weekend! Kinley Park placed 3rd in youth musical theater. My dears and Lauren Glenn performed beautifully in the Honors Recital . And not pictured is dear Alice Loveday who made it to Governors School for the Arts for classical voice this summer as a sophomore!

I’m so proud of these singers talents and gifts, but mostly for the hardwork they put into singing. I’m a grateful teacher!

I had so much fun today wearing Hildegard von Bingen “merch” today. Lately, I have been fascinated by this brilliant 12th century composer, mystic, herbalist, Abbess, etc.
Thank you .co for making merch for music nerds!

James and I planted flower seeds on Easter Monday in the pots on our front porch. I’ve been surprised and delighted to watch them sprout so quickly. The dirt that had been barren days before now holds life.

Nature does this to me each spring: when I think that maybe the warmth of the sun is gone forever, the daffodils remind me that the ground will break with beauty again. The light is coming just beyond the dark winter sky.

This reality — that a stubborn, latent goodness lies just beyond death — is hard to believe in my day-to-day life. The flashiest headlines remind me of senseless genocides, tragedy, a country gone sideways. Even in my beautiful, ordinary life, suffering hums through my days: loss, relational discord, an aging body, unmet dreams, the thousand ways I disappoint myself and others, and the general malaise of mundanity. This life, though a gift, is hard. (Continued in the comments)

Another one of my singers earned an Owala! And friends… I can truly hear a difference in her singing, level of confidence, and preparation. I’m so proud of you Dakota!
