It’s hard to put into words the sadness that comes with losing someone from our Roadrunner family.

Allen Brown-Zubillaga was more than a UTSA alumnus, he was a friend, classmate, and part of a community that will always remember him. We’re holding his loved ones close in our thoughts and sending our deepest condolences to everyone feeling this loss.

Thank you, Allen, for being a part of our community. Your memory will stay with us. ❤️

We are proud to see Rogelio Sáenz, one of our very own Sociology and Demography professors, featured in the New York Times’ article this week. He and his colleague, Monica Cruz, discuss the deep-rooted causes of poverty in San Antonio. As the city continues to grow, Sáenz highlights how many neighborhoods are still dealing with the lasting effects of redlining, segregation, limited access to homeownership, and unequal education opportunities. His perspective adds important context to conversations about why poverty in San Antonio has remained so persistent over the years.
