The Department of Science and Technology - Capacity Building Program in Science and Mathematics Education (DOST - CBPSME) in Central Luzon State University (CLSU) successfully conducted the Orientation and Signing of the Scholarship Agreement of the newly CBPSME scholars for the Second Semester of Academic Year 2025–2026.

This activity formally welcomed the new batch of scholars and provided them with important information about the scholarship benefits, policies, responsibilities, and expectations under the CBPSME program. The contract signing marked the official start of their journey as DOST - CBPSME scholars.

One of the highlights of the Scholars Leadership Camp was an inspiring session led by Dr. Michael Charleston Chua of De La Salle University. His insights on Servant Leadership, paired with the heartfelt stories shared by our alumni scholars—including two from CLSU, Mr. Jupeth T. Pentang, Associate Professor I, and Mr. Bench G. Fabros, Assistant Professor I—created a truly meaningful and uplifting experience. Their journeys and achievements resonated deeply with our participants, giving our scholars an added boost of motivation and confidence.

One hundred CBPSME Scholars, including seven scholars from CLSU, gathered for the Scholars’ Leadership Camp held on November 12–16, 2025 at The Glory Hotel, Clark, Pampanga.

The camp fostered camaraderie, leadership, and collaboration, uniting scholars in their shared vision of positive change through education.

11th National Research Conference in Science and Mathematics Education

More than 300 graduate CBPSME scholars and guests convened for the 11th National Research Conference in Science and Mathematics Education (NRCSME), held in Los Baños, Laguna. This year’s theme, “Community Engagement and Partnerships in STEM Education: Strengthening Impact and Relevance,” highlighted the critical role of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in making science education more socially responsive.

The two-day event, organized by the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) in partnership with the National Consortium in Graduate Science and Mathematics Education (NCGSME), served as a platform for scholars under the Capacity Building Program in Science and Mathematics Education (CBPSME) to present their research and explore collaborative opportunities.

This year’s NRCSME is hosted by the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), with the University of the Philippines College of Education (UPCEd) and Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) as co-hosts.

DOST-CBPSME CLSU proudly congratulates Mr. Elmer M. Cuevas and Ms. Rea May B. Arandia for winning the Best Poster Paper Award at the 11th National Research Conference in Science and Mathematics Education (NRCSME) held on October 16–17, 2025 at Los Baños, Laguna.

Mr. Cuevas earned the award under Category 1: Conceptual Studies and Assessments for his research entitled “Digital Literacy and the Quantification of Attitudes, Perceptions, and Readiness toward AI Integration in Science Education: Evidence from a Philippine State University.” Meanwhile, Ms. Arandia won under Category 3: Teaching Capacity and Development for her study “Exploring Mathematical Proficiency among Preservice Mathematics Teachers: A Problem-Solving Approach.”

Both scholars received a ₱10,000 cash prize and certificates, and their research will be published in the CBPSME Journal.

The conference was funded by DOST-SEI and hosted by the University of the Philippines Open University in collaboration with Ateneo de Manila University and UP Diliman College of Education.

CLSU continues to uphold its commitment to excellence as a member of the National Consortium in Graduate Science and Mathematics Education (NCGSME).
