There is always something growing in the Cedar garden—and always something to do!
From watering, weeding, and tending plants to harvesting fresh berries and radishes, our students are learning firsthand that a thriving garden takes daily care and attention.
This week, students were also busy installing four new planter boxes along the fence line. A huge thank you to Mr. K and our Wood Shop students for designing and building these beautiful boxes, which will soon be home to a new crop of raspberries.
Getting our hands dirty, working together, and helping create spaces that will grow food and learning!

Have you been wondering how our alumni artist pillar painting has been coming along since our original post three months ago?
In various stages of completion, the pillars now feature the ocean and its many critters, views of Mudge Island, Jack Point, the swimming hole near the Cedar bridge, a drive through the Cedar community, Hemer Park, and the rich texture of the mighty cedar tree.
Watching this project continually unfold has brought colour, pride, curiosity, and connection into our hallways. Students stop to admire the details, ask questions, and see pieces of their community reflected back at them through art.
We are incredibly grateful to our alumni artists for sharing their talent and vision in a way that celebrates both Cedar’s identity and the beauty of the place we call home.
Just a few sneak peeks!

Who doesn’t love a food truck?!?
Our Grade 8 PBL students recently took on the challenge of creating their own food truck businesses from the ground up!
Working through the design process, students developed business models, created branding and menus, considered budgeting and marketing, and brought their ideas to life through collaboration, creativity, and problem solving.
From concept to ex*****on, this project highlighted the power of hands-on learning and gave students an authentic opportunity to think like entrepreneurs, designers, and innovators.

Ten students spent the day in Barista training and certification last Thursday, had a good time, learned a lot., and got to add something to their resume. But I’d argue it was the staff who got to sample their efforts that benefited the most!!
