🎓 Meet our University Libraries Alumnus of the Year, Dr. Tyler D. Parry! 🌟 From being a UNLV Rebel to becoming an Associate Professor in African American and African Diaspora Studies, his journey is a testament to following your passions and taking chances.

Born and raised in Las Vegas, Dr. Parry’s connection with UNLV runs deep. From his undergraduate degree to meeting his wife on campus, and ultimately returning to teach at his alma mater, Dr. Parry’s journey has come full circle. His story is a true reflection of the Rebel spirit, daring to take chances and challenge convention.

We're proud to have him as an IGES faculty member, and his story serves as an inspiration to all Rebels. Congratulations, Dr. Parry!

Dr. Willoughby will be discussing medical education and racism during the age of slavery, further examining why disparities persist today and how he came to research this complex history.

Did you know that October is Filipino American History Month? 🇵🇭 It's a time to honor their incredible contributions and rich history.

Filipino Americans have a deep-rooted history dating back to the 16th century when Filipinos first arrived in what is now California. Fast forward to today, and their influence can be seen and felt across various fields, including sports!

Check out AIS 402: Asian American Sporting Cultures with Dr. Constancio Arnaldo! This course explores the captivating journey of Asian Americans in the world of sports. One of the highlights is the professor's research on the legendary Manny Pacquiao, shedding light on the remarkable story of this boxing icon and his impact on Asian American sports history. 🥊🌟
