Rath Yatra 2026: When the Grand Avenue Becomes a Living Stage of Faith, Art, and Indian Civilization

We are delighted to share that our Hon'ble Vice Chancellor has written an article on Rath Yatra 2026 which has been published in Loksamachar, Varanasi. The article is a humble attempt to explore the deeper philosophical, cultural, and civilizational significance of the world-renowned Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, beyond its identity as a religious festival.
The Grand Road (Bada Danda) of Puri transforms into a magnificent stage where devotion, art, craftsmanship, tradition, and collective human spirit converge. The festival reflects the timeless Indian ideals of inclusivity, equality, compassion, service, and coexistence. Every chariot, every ritual, and every devotee contributes to a celebration that transcends barriers of caste, creed, language, and geography.
Lord Jagannath's annual journey reminds us that divinity belongs to all humanity. The Rath Yatra is not merely a procession; it is a powerful expression of India's living heritage and an enduring message of unity in diversity.
Through this article, I have sought to present the global relevance of Jagannath culture and its profound contribution to India's spiritual and cultural legacy.

🩸 Blood Donation Camp Successfully Organized at Rajendra University 🩸

A Blood Donation Camp was successfully organized at the IDP Building of Rajendra University, Balangir on 13th April 2026, jointly by NSS, NCC, and YRC, on the occasion of Odia Pakhya Palana–2026.

A total of 21 units of blood were collected during the camp, reflecting the spirit of service and social responsibility among the university fraternity. The camp was conducted with the support of Odisha Blood Centre, BBMCH, Balangir.

The programme was organized under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Diptimayee Naik, NCC Coordinator Dr. Md. Mainul Sk, NSS Bureau Coordinator Dr. Bansidhar Deep, and YRC Coordinator Chandra Sekhar Patra.

The event was graced by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bibhuti Bhushan Malik as the Chief Guest. Controller of Finance Chandramani Mirdha, Dy. Registrar Sri Biswajit Behera, and HoD, Computer Science Dr. Debabrata Dansana were also present.

The programme concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from students, staff, and volunteers.

🌸 Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti Celebrated at Rajendra University, Balangir 🌸

The Department of Political Science, Rajendra University, Balangir, successfully organized the Celebration of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti along with a One-Day National Seminar on “Dr. B. R. Ambedkar: Social Justice and its Contemporary Relevance” on 14th April 2026 at the New Academic Building.

The programme was held under the esteemed patronage of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bibhuti Bhushan Malik, with the gracious presence of distinguished academicians and resource persons including Prof. B. C. Choudhury (Berhampur University), Prof. Pankaj Deep (IGNOU, New Delhi), and Dr. Birendra Suna (M.M. University, Bhawanipatna).

The seminar highlighted the enduring vision of Dr. Ambedkar on social justice, equality, and inclusive development, emphasizing its relevance in today’s society. Faculty members, scholars, and students actively participated, making the event insightful and impactful.

The programme was further supported by the valuable guidance of university officials and dignitaries, contributing to its grand success.
