The TDI Intro to Tech course is a foundational program designed to introduce recreational scuba divers to the equipment, techniques, and mindsets of technical diving.
It acts as a bridge between recreational diving and advanced technical courses, focusing heavily on precision buoyancy, perfect trim, and specialized gear configurations without exceeding sport-diving limits.

1. Equipment Configurations
Twinsets & Doubles: Learning how to manage and wear twin cylinders or sidemount configurations.
Redundancy: Introduction to long-hose regulators, backup necklaces, and technical wing/harness systems.
Wetnotes & Accessories: Integrating data slates, technical tools, and Surface Marker Buoys (SMBs) into your gear.

2. In-Water Skills
Buoyancy & Trim: Mastering the ability to hover perfectly horizontal and motionless without moving your hands or shifting depth.
Advanced Propulsion: Learning precision kicks such as the frog kick, modified flutter, helicopter turns, and backward finning.
Safety Drills: Practicing valve shutdowns (drills to isolate gas leaks), gas-sharing scenarios via the long-hose (S-drill), and controlled ascents.

3. Theory & Dive Planning
Gas Management: Understanding gas matching for buddies, calculating surface air consumption (SAC) rates, and emergency gas planning.
Situational Awareness: Shifting focus from just yourself to true team-based diving awareness.

By the end of this course, you must master these critical skills:
Manage Multiple Hoses: Route and deploy long-hose and regulators using motor skills.
Control Inflation systems: Balance gas between your wing and drysuit for perfect trim / depth control.
Team awareness: communicate, maintain control of planning and line awareness.
Streamlining of equipment: trim and control up to six cylinders while staying horizontal.
Independent valve control: Find and shut down failing valves instantly by touch alone and OOG drills.
Organise Backup Tools: Reach and use redundant safety gear stowed in your pockets.
Execute Gas Plans: Calculate gases, strict pre-dive limits and turn pressures.

The TDI Technical DPV course teaches you to use underwater scooters for advanced, deep-water exploration.
Core Training Focus;
Deep Navigation: Utilise scooters safely on dives.
Gas Math: Calculate safe turnaround points using battery, back gas and oxygen consumption rates.
Crisis Management: Practice towing failed scooters and sharing gas while moving.
Heavy Rigging: Learn to steer while carrying multiple stage tanks suitable for OC Or CCR.

The TDI Decompression Procedures course certifies you to dive to 45 meters, while conducting planned, staged decompression stops. It transitions you from recreational limits to technical diving.

Staged Decompression: Ability to safely plan and execute dives beyond recreational no-decompression limits.

Gear Mastery: Proficiency in managing multi-cylinder setups, including twinsets, sidemounts, and decompression stage bottles.

Emergency Readiness: Competence in handling valve shutdowns, gas loss, omitted decompression, and deploying DSMBs from depth.

Tech Progression: Opens the door to advanced courses like Extended Range and Trimix.

The SDI Wreck Diver course focuses on recreational exploration from the outside, while the TDI Advanced Wreck Diver course trains you for complex, technical overhead environment pe*******on deep inside the structure.

Key learning points:
The SDI course focuses on situational awareness, external navigation, and the basic mechanics of interacting with a sunken vessel without trapping yourself inside.

The TDI course shifts focus entirely to survival inside an overhead environment where a direct vertical ascent to the surface is impossible.

Because you cannot immediately surface, overhead diving turns minor issues into life-threatening emergencies if you are not properly trained.
We keep training when we exploring.

The TDI Helitrox Diver course is a smart entry point to technical decompression diving down to 45 metres. By introducing Helium into your breathing mix, it eliminates the safety risks of deep air diving.

Key Benefits;
Mental Clarity: Replacing nitrogen with Helium eliminates nitrogen narcosis, keeping your mind sharp and responsive at depth.

Enhanced Safety: It offers a scientifically backed, low-risk alternative to dangerous “deep air” profiles.

Future Building Block: It teaches the complex gas-management skills needed to transition smoothly to Advanced Trimix or Closed Circuit Rebreathers (CCR).

Amazing shots by Kez they had one goal.

To visit HMS Maori and see some cool stuff!

A bull ray fluffing his pillow - cuttle fish mating - seahorses - Nudis - plenty of pretty sponges.

At 12metres you don’t need depth you need a good eye and a camera to capture.

Lovely day out
Thanks ladies!

There’s guiding dives and there is leading dives.

Core Responsibilities of a technical dive leader.

•Dive Management: Coordinating boat captains, managing surface support, and verifying pre-dive gas calculations (Nitrox, Trimix, or Helitrox)

•In-Water Guiding: Safely navigating complex routes inside underwater caves or deep shipwrecks while keeping the team tight and organised.

•Instructional Support: Assisting active technical instructors during intensive water skills, valve drills, and decompression-stop practices.

•Crisis Management: Acting as the primary rescue coordinator on-site, managing emergency oxygen administration, and building shared mental maps to handle unforeseen failures under pressure.

Road map to success

When individuals adopt this goal oreientated mindset, they transition from being merely “busy” to being truly effective.

Create the attitude:

How a Positive Attitude Changes Learning
* Deeper Engagement: from memorizing facts for a test to connecting concepts for long-term retention.

* Higher Resilience: When you hit a roadblock, a goal-oriented attitude prompts you to find new strategies instead of giving up.

* Proactive Resourcefulness: You actively seek out tools, mentors, and feedback to bridge the gap between your current state and your target skill level.

How to Shift Your Attitude:

* Reframe Mistakes: View errors as data points showing you where to adjust your focus, not as a reflection of your intelligence.

* Focus on the “Why”: Connect the learning material to a practical, real-world outcome you care about to sustain motivation.

* Value Progress Over Comparison: Measure your current skills against your past self, rather than comparing your pace to others.

Let’s build your roadmap.
Tell me:

* Your goal: What skill are you focusing on?
* Your reason: What is this for?
* Expectations: Where do you see yourself with your new skill?

Once I have these details, I will break your big outcome down into a step-by-step plan
