As we close out the school year, starting Tuesday, 5/19, no backpacks will be allowed on campus. If students need to bring a bag, it must be smaller than 8.5” x 5.5”. Students may not wear headphones around their neck or earbuds in their ears. Please have them keep these items at home. Thank you for your support!

As we close out Teacher Appreciation Week, Chef Rodriguez and Sous Chef De La Peña grilled up a delicious lunch for our staff. This week, we were able to celebrate our teachers and staff every day thanks to the support of our SAVE Promise Club, SAC committee, PBIS, NJHS, Art Club, Equitable Retirement, Primerica, and our new business partner, Bradley Blessing State Farm.

Our staff enjoyed breakfast and lunch from Chick-fil-A, The Breakfast Station, Publix, Dunkin’ Donuts, homemade oatmeal, Dominos, Mojo’s, KONA ICE, and SAM’s Club.

Teacher appreciation is always a special week because we get to honor all of the dedication, hard work, time, and effort our teachers and staff put in daily, and well beyond their school day.

THANK YOU, HORIZON, for ALL you do daily. We appreciate Y-O-U!! 💛🖤

This week starts our state testing.

▪️Tuesday 5/5 - FAST Reading

▪️Tuesday 5/12 - Civics EOC and FSSA Science
▪️Thursday 5/14 - Algebra and Geometry EOC

Please make sure students eat a good dinner the night before, get plenty of rest, breakfast in the morning, and be on time to school. We are looking for all students to meet their growth point. Students, YOU’VE GOT THIS!!

*We ask students not to bring their cell phone, wireless earbuds, or smart watches as they will not be allowed to keep these items on them during the test. If they do not need them, please help us out and have them keep them at home.

Tonight we proudly celebrate one of our amazing school volunteers, Ms. Shrouf, who was recognized at the School Board meeting for her outstanding dedication and service to our students and staff! Ms. Shrouf’s countless hours, generous spirit, and unwavering support have made a lasting impact on our school community.

Volunteers like this remind us that it truly takes a village to support student success. We are incredibly grateful for the time, heart, and energy poured into our school each day. Our 8th grade students are working hard at preparing for their end of course exam on May 12. Today, in Ms. Feliciano’s science class we saw students who were engaged in an activity where they were experts in a certain area of the content and were teaching each other in a timed conversation.

We also saw Ms. Smith with a group of students where they were working on a test taking strategy “slash the trash” while also using context clues to answer test-like questions, while using the game Jenga to motivate their learning.

This is learning right here. Students taking ownership of their work and taking pride in their education. GREAT things are happening here at Horizon! 💛🖤
