Two years ago, on March 15, 2024, Enn took a leap of faith and flew to Japan, beginning a new chapter in Hokkaido. From dreaming about faraway places to living that dream every single day, she embraced every challenge, every lesson, and every opportunity with courage and determination.

Now, she’s not just visiting Japan—she’s teaching, exploring, and thriving in the very place she once imagined from afar. Her story is a powerful reminder: dreams do come true, but only if you dare to take the first step and keep walking toward them.

Meet Teacher Jelle—new country, new classroom, hello Japan! 🇯🇵

Teacher Jelle began her teaching journey with GEOS Cebu in 2020. After almost three years of dedication in our office, she was granted an incredible opportunity to work in Japan in 2023.

Since then, she’s been living her best life as an English instructor—teaching by day, and exploring Japan in her free time, all while checking destinations off her bucket list one by one.

When you hear the word "Japan," 🇯🇵 what comes to your mind? Is it "cherry blossom" 🌸? "perfect vacation"?🎎 "Ramen"? 🍜 "Matcha" 🍵? Well, those are just some of the most common things that come to mind if we hear the word "Japan." While for some, "Japan" means "opportunities" and "a lifelong dream." No amount of planning will guarantee that we will be ready for whatever the future brings, but being open and receptive to opportunity is the key. When an opportunity knocks, be ready to embrace it. The "what ifs" are always more painful than "at least I tried."

One of the teachers who proved to us that perseverance will surely take you somewhere is Teacher Chai. Hired at GEOS Cebu in 2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣9️⃣ and was deployed to Japan in 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣3️⃣.

He teaches at his main school in Ichinomiya, Bisai, while also sharing his knowledge and warmth in Oguchi and Gifu. But what makes his journey truly inspiring is where it all began.

Years ago, Ian was just a young dreamer, looking at photos of cherry blossoms, ancient temples, and bustling city streets, imagining himself walking there one day. Japan felt so far away—a place he could only visit in his mind. But he never let that dream fade. He worked hard, studied diligently, and embraced every opportunity that brought him one step closer.

Now, that dream is no longer just a picture on a vision board—it’s his daily reality. He’s living, breathing, and teaching in the very country he once admired from afar.
