Big well done to Donncha and Caoimhe who competed in the Total Taekwondo Competition on Sunday in MTU.

Donncha: He went through a tough group for patterns and finished with Bronze medal.
He then went on to sparring where through a tough final and finished with Gold.

Caoimhe: At 6 years old and her first main competition and against some tough competition. For such young competitors all the amazing kids in this age group performed absolutely amazingly well. Caoimhe ultimately coming out with Gold in both Patterns and Sparring.

Back in July I represented Conna, Midleton and Ireland at the ITF World Championships in Barcelona.
Something I couldn’t have done without the support of local businesses, as well as a couple from back home in “The Town” Dundalk.

This evening I had the pleasure of an audience with the Cllr. Fergal Dennehy, Lord Mayor of Cork. Representing Team Ireland, Team Midleton Taekwon-Do Club and of course representing Conna Taekwondo.
We each got to stand where some great Irish freedom fighters and international figures of history once stood and was an incredible honour.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of travelling to Barcelona as part of Team Ireland for the ITF World Championships.
To be part of a team representing my country on the world stage was dream come true. To be in the presence of such amazing athletes and coaches from both Ireland and around the world, as well as Grand Master and ITF president Choi Jung Hwa was an experience that I will never forget.
To come home as a Gold medalist and World Champion title was something I’m still not getting my head round. But I will gladly take it repenting Ireland, Midleton and Conna.
Also a very special thank you to Master James Dwyer Midleton Taekwon-Do Club. Who’s dedication and and leadership got myself and so many others across the line. (As well as braving lifting my 115kg😜)

A few bumps and bruises after yesterday’s black belt grading but well worth it. After 4 1/2 hours promoted to 3rd degree. Thanks to examiners Master Dwyer and Mr Walsh and for the preparation over the years.
