Cumilla University Language and Linguistics Club (CoULLC) is a student-led academic platform dedicated to exploring the depth, diversity, and evolution of human language. Founded on the belief that language is not merely a tool of communication but a living record of culture, identity, and thought, the club brings together students who share a passion for linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, translation studies, and language pedagogy.
Our activities span workshops, seminars, guest lectures, peer-led discussions, and collaborative research projects that connect classroom theory with real-world linguistic inquiry. Members engage with a wide range of interests, from the phonological and syntactic structures of Bangla and its regional dialects, to translingualism in the age of globalization, to the intersections of language with gender, power, and society. We also encourage exploration of computational and corpus-based approaches to linguistics, reflecting the growing role of technology and AI in language research today.
Beyond academic exploration, CoULLC serves as a nurturing community for students to develop research skills, critical thinking, and confidence in presenting ideas — whether through conference participation, publication support, or informal reading circles. We actively encourage interdisciplinary dialogue, welcoming students not only from linguistics and Bangla departments but from across the university, united by curiosity about how language shapes human experience.
At its heart, CoULLC is committed to celebrating linguistic diversity, promoting scholarly rigor, and building a bridge between local Bangla linguistic heritage and global academic conversations — empowering the next generation of linguists, researchers, and language enthusiasts at Cumilla University.
