Clovis West High School Seniors, Riley and Larissa, joined our CIA team on Friday to share what a Peer-to-Peer support looks like in action. Through their mock discussion, our team was able to see them discuss a typical friendship challenge that a student may face. While Riley posed a real-life scenario and asked for support, Larissa was able to ask reflective questions that helped her explore options and develop her skills in working through the challenge.

PARENT NIGHT: FENTANYL AWARENESS
The next CUSD Parent Night will focus on fentanyl awareness. Parents and teens can hear from representatives from the Zachary Horton Foundation and Clovis Police Department, who will share important facts to know and resources to help those needing support.
The workshop will be held March 5 at the district's Professional Learning Center (362 N. Clovis Ave., Clovis - behind In-N-Out). It begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner followed by the presentation at 6 p.m.; free childcare is available. To register: tinyurl.com/CUSDParentNightMar26

Parent Nights focus on various topics of interest to help educate families and foster a partnership between parents and the district. Supported by the Clovis Unified Supplemental Services department, these events are free to attend and open to all.
Additional information on fentanyl awareness can be found in a past Parent Bulletin. Look for the September 2022 edition in the archive section at the bottom of this page: cusd.com/parent-bulletin

✏️ SHARING EXCELLENCE
Clovis Unified's Curriculum, Instruction and Accountability (CI&A) team recently presented on their best practices to support diverse learners in the classroom at the San Joaquin County's Office of Education CodeStack conference! Erica Robinson Lopez, a teacher on special assignment for CI&A, discussed behavior intervention strategies and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) that encompass all tiers of educational support, from study teams to Section 504 plans, to help all students succeed in mind, body and spirit.

"I am honored and thrilled to highlight the dynamic, innovative, and inclusive practices that Clovis Unified uses to support every student in our district," said Lopez. "I appreciate the opportunity to share our approach with others and hope to extend the positive impact of Clovis Unified to other districts across the state."
