Field trip for Horticulture and Culinary to Bristol Gardens and Grill to help Owner/Chef Matthew Shy test out his hot sauces for the upcoming Bristol Pepper Fest this Saturday at 2pm downtown Bristol! Each student got to pick their own pepper and create and take home their own personal sauce! Super cool and kids absolutely loved it! 🌶️

CTE Student of the Month for August, nominated by Instructor Buffie Jones, is junior Alayna Angeles! Alayna is in Cosmetology II and has shown a relentless work ethic since beginning the program last school year. Alayna plans to take Cosmetology III her senior year and sit for the Cosmetology Virginia State Board Licensure Exam at the end of her senior year. Alayna is considering a career in cosmetology, and we know with her strong work ethic, she will go far!

4 members of our CTE Student Leadership Board volunteered their time Saturday morning to help build veteran Army SPC Christopher Brooks' new home through Home for our Troops! Braden Wells, Phillip Williams, Timothy Griffin, and Dylan Kellogg showed tremendous leadership, work ethic, and selflessness during this project! Very proud of these students' willingness to go above and beyond for a member of our community who is well-deserving!

Just announced... Virginia High School is the #10 High School in America in the W!SE financial literacy exam!!! We have been in the top 100 for multiple years in a row, and this is our second time being in the 10 top of ALL high school's in America in personal finance after finishing 6th back in 2023!!!

A very special shout out to instructors Rob-Aimee Thomas and Chad Penley for their amazing work!!!

We had 3 students represent VA High at the Regional SkillsUSA competition for Automotive Technology!
Automotive Technology had 6 students pass all 10 of their Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification exams this school year! Many of them are already working in the field and have jobs lined up after high school! Proud of these students, instructor Junior Hayden, and all of their hard work! 🔧 🛞

CTE Student of the Month for May, representing Nurse Aide and nominated by instructor, Kayla Keener, is junior Anna Gray! Anna has officially passed her Virginia state CNA written and skills exam and is now a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)! Her and her cohort did a fantastic job this school year! Big shoutout to instructor, Kayla Keener, who overcame an enormous amount of challenges starting late in the year and as a first year teacher but absolutely rocked it with her students, regardless! So proud of Anna and our entire CNA program!
This wraps up our CTE Students of the Month for the 2025-2026 school year. Stay tuned and we will be back in August for a new school year and a new CTE Student of the Month!

Bearcat Senior Singing Day 2026!
We are SO proud of ALL of our seniors who signed their letter of intent for athletic scholarships, job placements, and a Marine enlistment! We have SO many amazing seniors who have a ton to be proud of! We know they are going to go on to represent Virginia High in a positive way in their future post-graduation placements!
VHS Graduation is Friday, May 22nd at 7pm in our main gym. Come out and help us celebrate these amazing young adults and everything they have accomplished!
