⏳Un libro di sintesi che inquadra in maniera completa il coinvolgimento dell'Unione Sovietica nella Seconda guerra mondiale, non limitandosi al fronte occidentale (o orientale, a seconda dei punti di vista), ma prendendo in considerazione cosa significò l'impegno bellico per la compagine statale più estesa al mondo.

Faced with the choice between directly supporting U.S. efforts to counter Beijing in the region or concentrating resources on emerging threats closer to home, Italy, as one of the most active contributors to U.S.- or NATO-led military initiatives, has opted for the former. Without much debate, Italy has expanded its military presence in the Indo-Pacific, initiating significant collaborations with various regional countries, and deploying naval units to the region. As Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni recently announced, this effort will intensify in 2024, when Rome deploys its aircraft carrier strike groupto the area.

⏳Quando si parla di guerre rivoluzionarie, di solito in Italia ci si concentra sul fronte più vicino a noi (con buone ragioni). Tuttavia la stessa attenzione andrebbe dedicata anche alle campagne dirette verso il Reno e il raggiungimento delle cosiddette 'frontiere naturali'. Hayworth nella sua ricerca propone un'analisi di grandissimo interesse prendendo in considerazione numerosi aspetti.

⛓ "In May 1790, the French National Assembly renounced wars of conquest. Two years later, France declared war on Austria and invaded Belgium and the Rhineland, claiming it was to spread the benefits of the Revolution. Soon, however, military and economic crises drove a shift in the nature of France's war effort. What started as a war for liberty became a war for conquest, one that brought devastating exploitation to the Rhineland. It was during this time that French foreign policy became influenced by the idea of attaining the natural frontiers - the Alps, the Pyrenees, and, most significantly, the Rhine. Although often portrayed as a diplomatic tradition of the French monarchy, Jordan R. Hayworth shows how the natural frontiers policy was born during the Revolution. In addition, he examines the intense and consequential debates that arose over the policy, which caused much confusion in the war and helped to undermine France's democratic experiment."

⏳Un bel libro per approfondire il mondo del soldato romano, dalla sua formazione alla paga, passando per cosa significassero per un uomo dell'antichità la sconfitta e la vittoria.
