You found the answer.
You understood the passage.
You wrote the correct idea.

And still got 0 marks.

Why?

Because the instruction said ONE WORD ONLY and you wrote two words.

Remember:
🎯 IELTS checks precision, not effort.

One extra word can cost you the mark.

Most students think skimming means reading faster.

It doesn’t.

High scorers don’t skim to collect every detail.

They skim to understand:
✔ Paragraph purpose
✔ Passage direction
✔ Structure shifts
✔ The overall map of the passage

That’s why they can find answers faster later.

Weak students see text.

High scorers see structure.

If skimming feels useless, you’re probably focusing on details too early.

Start tracking ideas, not words.

Smart students fail too. Reasons:
1. Applying tactics more than necessary
2. Obsession of trying to comprehend everything
3. Killing time on difficult questions

Want to know what high scorers do instead?
1. They locate fast (scan)
2. They read selectively (skim)
3. They spend time in reading questions not in passages
4. They don’t overthink

Try to apply these principles to become a high scorer. It will take time, so don’t expect fast results. Try to be consistent; fix your aim, and you will become better soon.
