LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO CONNIE ROTUNDA (Eileen's co-teacher for the upcoming August 5th, 2023 workshop in NYC).

Many of you will remember Connie from when she was teaching Viewpoints/Feldenkrais at NYCDA. She is an acting member of Eileen's theater company, Wallis Knot. Here's her full bio:

Connie is an actor, director, movement coach/director and teaching-artist. She was the former Associate Chair of the Theatre Arts Department at SUNY New Paltz. She has worked regionally and Off-Broadway, created and performed sketch comedy with Alarm Dog Rep, as well as performed and taught as a guest artist. She has collaborated as an actor and movement director with Wallis Knot and as a rogue artist with The Anthropologists and Messenger Theatre, all independent experimental theatre companies based in NYC developing new works. As a Guild Certified Practitioner in the Feldenkrais Method® she has worked as a training program practitioner in the NYC Feldenkrais Method® Professional Training Programs. In addition to Feldenkrais, she has trained in the Viewpoints with Mary Overlie, Wendell Beavers, Anne Bogart, and The SITI Company; the Margolis Method with Kari Margolis; Middendorf breath work with Juerg Rofler; Linklater with Andrea Haring; Trish Arnold work with Merry Conway; and the Michael Chekhov Technique with MICHA faculty. In 2016 she was named the MICHA Inaugural Scholar for her research and investigation of the synergy between the Feldenkrais Method and Chekhov Technique. She maintains a private Feldenkrais practice in New Paltz.

Mind the Gap: Sustaining the Moment & Allowing Sensation

"The ability to sustain gives us feelings. To sustain with the right instinct seems to nourish the ability to feel. If prolonged too long, we will kill the feelings, just as if we do not sustain long enough, we will kill the feelings."
--Michael Chekhov, from the Archives

I used to love taking summer term students to NYC's Metropolitan Museum of Art every year. Connie and I are teaching a class in NYC on July 1st...anyone up for a trip to the Egyptian wing at the MET afterwards?
If not, can you remember what your favorite work of art was at the museum?

What can I say? Michael Chekhov is a very quotable guy!
Connie Rotunda is a Chekhov teacher and I can't wait to work with her again in our workshop in NYC July 1st.
If you're not in town, let me know if you're interested in a zoom version that we might do later in the summer if there's interest. It's movement + voice = acting connection and emotional flow. What's not to love?

We are excited to meet in the studio again to reimagine, revitalize and reinvest in the co-teaching we began at NYCDA and with Wallis Knot Theatre Company.

Please join us as we work/play to create a seamless convergence weaving Eileen's unique vocal work into Connie's movement explorations founded in Feldenkrais, Chekhov and Viewpoints. We will focus on sustaining the present moment while suspending the feeling into the next, using text, breath, and movement.

This workshop invites former students, professional actors, students of acting, as well as the curious-hearted.

Text will be provided, but please feel free to bring a short piece to play with, if you prefer.

Since I just posted a lovely quote by Colin Ferrell, I thought I'd follow with a photo of him and the donkey from "Banshees of Inisherin" which is a gem of a film. It's a comedy, but you'll cry a wee bit, too, which is always my favorite kind of script.
