Hola Hola! My name is Niliarys but everyone calls me Nili ❤️

I’m a first year Ph.D. student in the Dietetics and Nutrition department at FIU. My roles in the MetA-Bone project include processing and storing the biological samples that we collect from our AMAZING participants🦴👏🏻

Recently, I’ve also been helping with recruitment by partnering with FIU All Star and giving nutrition education lessons at middle schools around Miami.

Research indicates that having a large variety of bacteria in the gut may help reduce the risk of conditions like: Diabetes, Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and psoriatic arthritis. The incredible complexity of the gut and its importance to our overall health is a topic of increasing research in the nutrition and medical community 👀 📚

We know the importance of gut health. Specially, during adolescence. Diet and gut health appear to be very closely linked. Avoiding processed foods, high fat foods, and foods high in refined sugars is important for maintaining a healthy microbiome

If you want a heathy gut, you have to feed it well! This nourishment include both probiotics and probiotics which are two dietary compounds that are being recognized as essential to your intestinal health

In our study, we are using Soluble Corn Fiber (SCF) which is a highly soluble fiber that has demonstrated prebiotic effects
