Federal College of Education, Abeokuta has commenced Admissions for 2026/27 Academic Session.

In line with the new Policy of the Federal Government, the College has commenced 5-year Dual Mandate NCE-Degree Programme. Under this new Policy, candidates for the 5-year Dual Mandate Programme will be admitted into the College WITHOUT JAMB Examination.

METHOD OF ENTRY
Candidates for the 3-year NCE Programme must possess 4 O'Level Credits and 1 Pass in relevant subjects in WASC, NECO, NABTEB.
Thereafter, successful NCE Candidates will Transit to the 2-year Degree Programme.

Interested Candidates should immediately come to the JAMB approved Institutional Professional Registration Centre in the College for the processing of their Admission.

It is pertinent to note that candidates admitted into this College Academic Programme shall have easy Access to the Federal Government students' Education Loan (NELFUND) at zero per cent (0%) interest.

At the end of the 5-year Academic Programme, successful graduates will be awarded NCE & Degree Certificates including Skill Aquisition Certificate.
In addition to the above, candidates shall be enrolled for the NYSC after the completion of their 2-year Degree Programme — if they are not above 30 years of age.

FCE Abeokuta, Federal Fire Service Strengthen Campus Safety Through Strategic Dialogue...Officials stress documentation, equipment maintenance and proactive safety culture in TETFund buildings

ABEOKUTA— "A safe institution is built not only on good intentions, but on informed dialogue, proper documentation and deliberate action"...say Safety Officials.

At the Deputy Provost (Academics) Office, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, the Federal Fire Service Nigeria (FFSN) Officials met with the College’s Management to take stock of fire safety in the College.

The strategic session, held on Tuesday 16th June 2026, focused on fire-resistance standards, the state of prevention and measures to strengthen safety in all TETFund-sponsored structures.

Leading the FFSN delegation, S.F. Amosu said that the engagement was beyond routine inspection.

The Service assessed the quality of materials used in TETFund buildings and checked the availability and functionality of firefighting equipment. It also requested documented records of all campus structures and a full inventory of safety equipment — a move officials described as critical for emergency preparedness and regulatory accountability.

“Accurate records strengthen compliance and make our response faster when seconds count,” Amosu noted.

Dr. J.B. Filani, Deputy Provost (Academics) representing the Provost, said the meeting was about progress, not just audit. He stressed that the College is working to expand firefighting equipment and ensure existing apparatus are properly maintained.

“FCE Abeokuta remains committed to aligning infrastructure development with best safety practices, with consistent support from TETFund interventions,” Filani said.

Arch. Bolaji Olabimtan-Ayodeji, Director, Works and Physical Planning, balanced faith with responsibility: “We pray for safety, but we must also remain alert and proactive. Fire safety equipment must always be available and functional,” she said, commending Management for its dedication.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Filani thanked FFSN for its technical guidance and pledged prompt implementation of all recommendations. Both parties ended with a shared resolve: regular servicing of equipment, continuous safety education for staff and students, and uncompromising standards.

For FCE Abeokuta, the meeting marks another milestone in its effort to keep the campus secure and compliant with national safety guidelines.

Federal College of Education, Abeokuta Pioneers International Virtual Training, Sets New Benchmark for Teacher Education

ABEOKUTA — The Federal College of Education, Abeokuta (FCE Abeokuta) has made history as the first College of Education in Nigeria to host an international virtual certificate training programme delivered directly by a globally renowned educator, a milestone that signals a new era for teacher education in the country.

The epoch making programme was facilitated by Dr. Donna Stallings, former Professor of Lincoln University, Jefferson City, Missouri, United States of America. Education stakeholders have described the initiative as a bold step toward internationalising teacher training through technology-driven learning.

For the first time, students and lecturers at a Nigerian College of Education accessed world-class instructional expertise without the cost and logistics of overseas travel. The virtual format dismantled geographical barriers, bringing global best practices in pedagogy, curriculum design, and professional development directly to Abeokuta.

Organisers said the project illustrates how digital technology is reshaping education in Nigeria by connecting local institutions to international standards in real time.

“This initiative aligns squarely with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly its emphasis on digitisation, innovation, human capital development, and strategic global partnerships in education,” a statement from the organisers noted.

The training was developed and executed through the Electronic Education Initiative (E-DON), a digital learning platform focused on expanding access to quality education through international collaboration.

Stakeholders commended key agencies driving the transformation, including the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) under Executive Secretary Dr. Angela Ajala, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) led by Arch. Sonny Echono, and the Committee of Provosts of Nigerian Colleges of Education, for their sustained commitment to repositioning teacher education.

Special tribute was paid to the Provost of FCE Abeokuta, Dr. Rafiu Adekola Soyele, FNIM, FCIPDM, MNAE, whose visionary leadership and investment in innovation were credited with positioning the 50-year-old institution at the vanguard of educational reform.

According to organisers, the virtual certificate training delivers measurable impact: improved access to international expertise, stronger digital literacy among staff and students, exposure to global teaching methodologies, and expanded professional development pathways for academic staff.

Dr. Idonuagbe Akogun, Founder and National Programme Coordinator of E-DON, described the programme as “the dawn of a new era of innovation, collaboration, and global engagement in Nigeria’s tertiary education.” Dr Akogun who is a Federal Government National Honor Award Recipient (Diaspora) on Global Education and International Linkages urged participants to see it as more than training, but as a historic shift in how Nigerian teachers are prepared for the 21st century.

Dayo and Rukayat studied Engineering together at a university in Kwara State. After five years of hard work, they graduated and went their separate ways.

Five years later, Rukayat was working as a secretary in a construction firm, earning ₦50,000 monthly. Dayo, unable to secure a formal job, became a keke rider, earning about ₦100,000 monthly.

FCE Abeokuta Lecture: Playwright is ‘gOD of the Theatre’, Says Dr. Omotosho

Don urges students to see stagecraft as tool for social correction, not just entertainment

ABEOKUTA — The School of Secondary Education, Arts and Social Sciences, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, hosted its 8th Lecture Series on Thursday, 11th June, 2026, with a provocative call to reframe theatre as divine creative authority in action.

Held at the Theatre Arts Complex, the lecture titled _“gOD in Theatre and Creative Authority”_ was delivered by Dr. Chris Omotosho, scholar and prolific playwright.

Dr. Omotosho argued that theatre mirrors divine creation. Just as the Supreme God created the world, the playwright functions as “god in the theatre” — the chief architect who imagines, structures, and breathes life into a fictional world.

“Creative ability in theatre is derived from the Supreme God,” he told the audience. “The playwright assumes the status of a lesser god because he creates worlds, characters, and destinies from nothing, much like creation itself as taught in the Bible and Qur’an.”

He stressed that theatre extends far beyond acting. The discipline, he said, is a palm tree: every part is useful and yields a profession.

Dr. Omotosho mapped the arms of theatre to viable careers, urging students to look beyond the stage lights. He explained that playwriting naturally leads to writing and journalism, while directing opens doors to criticism and film direction. Acting, of course, feeds directly into the performance profession.

Technical theatre translates to expertise in lighting and set construction. Stage management builds skills for events management, and theatre management prepares students for public relations and marketing roles. Those trained in speech directing can move into speech therapy, while music and choreography lead to careers in music and dance. Costuming and makeup artistry align with fashion design and professional makeup, and media art provides a foundation for editing and production work.

He also introduced “poor theatre” as a minimalist form that proves storytelling needs no elaborate props — only intent and craft.

The most resonant point of the lecture was on purpose. Theatre, Dr. Omotosho insisted, is not mere entertainment.

“As the gOD in theatre creates like the Supreme God, his creation must carry purpose,” he said. “That purpose is the correction of society and of the individual. Theatre should disturb the audience from wrong thinking and inspire them toward positive action.”

An actor, he clarified, does not become the action he performs. Rather, he holds up a mirror for society to see itself.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Filani, Deputy Provost (Academic) who represented the Provost, commended the School for sustaining intellectual engagement through the lecture series and urged students to embrace theatre as a discipline of responsibility.

The session ended with renewed appreciation for the playwright — the unseen “gOD” whose authority shapes minds long after the curtain falls.

FCE Abeokuta Hails New Ogun Head of Service in Courtesy Visit

_College describes Saka’s appointment as “reward for resilience and dedication”_

ABEOKUTA — The appointment of Mr. Olanrewaju Iskeel Saka, mni, as the 21st Head of Service of Ogun State has been described as a testament to resilience, hard work, and administrative astuteness.

This was the consensus on Monday, June 8, 2026, when the management team of Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, led by the Provost, Dr. Rafiu Adekola Soyele, fnim, fcipdm, mnae, paid a courtesy visit to the new HoS at the Ogun State Secretariat Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Dr. Soyele, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to God and to Governor Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, CON, for entrusting Saka with the exalted office. He described the HoS as a “worthy alumnus” whose commitment to the college predated his appointment.

“Even before this appointment, he supported the College through his Set and Alumni Association in several ways,” the Provost said. “Your elevation is an act of God and a reward for years of dedicated service to the Ogun State Civil Service.”

Responding, Mr. Saka attributed his appointment to divine providence and thanked Governor Abiodun for the confidence reposed in him. He also commended the Body of Permanent Secretaries for their support during the reception.

The HoS recalled his days at FCE Abeokuta, where he studied Fine and Applied Arts, saying the institution laid the foundation for his career trajectory.

“This College gave me the impetus to forge on in life and become what God has made of me today,” he said. “I am proud of how FCE Abeokuta has kept the flag flying for 50 years. The Management’s welfarist approach is commendable, and I will not relent in supporting the institution through my Set and the Alumni Association.”

In a vote of thanks, the College Registrar, Mr. O.O. Tonade, appreciated the Head of Service and the Permanent Secretaries present, praying for a successful tenure for Saka.

Highlights of the visit included the presentation of gifts to the Head of Service and a group photograph with members of the management team.

Dr. Priscilla Asikhia has made history as the youngest PhD graduate of Babcock University at just 25 years old.

According to reports by Rising Africa and Nigerian Books of Record, the Nigerian academic achieved a remarkable feat: BSc in Business Administration at 19, MSc in Business Administration and Management at 22, and PhD in Human Resources and Personnel Administration at 25.

She began university education at age 15 after overcoming doubts about her abilities, and completed her Doctorate in 2022.

Beyond academics, Dr. Asikhia also gained two years of professional experience at Emzor Pharmaceuticals as an HR professional and at Unified Payments as a Business Operation Specialist.

Her journey reflects discipline, resilience, and a commitment to scholarship that defied expectations. She credits her success to God, citing Philippians 4:13 as her anchor.

Dr. Asikhia’s accomplishment stands as a proud example of Nigerian excellence and continues to inspire students nationwide to pursue academic goals without limits.

FUTURE LEADERS HONOUR FCE ABEOKUTA: Ebunoluwa Pupils Pay Courtesy Visit to Provost

It was a morning of joy, bright smiles, and big dreams at the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, as pupils of Ebunoluwa Nursery and Primary School, Osiele paid a courtesy visit to the Provost, Dr. Rafiu Adekola Soyele, FNIM, FCIPDM, MNAE.

The young visitors, accompanied by their teachers, were received warmly by the Provost and his management team in what quickly became more than a formal call — it was a celebration of mentorship, legacy, and the passing of knowledge from one generation to the next.

Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Soyele described FCE Abeokuta as “a centre of excellence built on 50 years of unbroken academic service.” He commended the College’s staff for their dedication, noting that the institution’s reputation rests on the quality of its people and its consistent commitment to teacher education.

If you’re preparing for NYSC camp, read this carefully 👇

1️⃣ Posting to camp is random, except for married female PCMs posted based on husband’s residence.

2️⃣ Prepare yourself mentally, physically, and medically for camp stress.

3️⃣ Feeding in camp is free — breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

4️⃣ You can buy extra food and other items at Mammy Market.

5️⃣ If you’re not financially ready, try to get your camp kits before going.

6️⃣ Camp is paramilitary. Avoid hard drugs, sharp objects, and expensive gadgets.

7️⃣ Ladies should go with enough sanitary pads and personal items.

8️⃣ Call-up letters are usually expected a few days before camp opens. Be patient.

9️⃣ Prepare like you’re travelling far, even if you later get a nearby state.

🔟 Original Statement of Result or Certificate is compulsory. No original, no registration.

1️⃣1️⃣ Buy slightly bigger white rubber shoes for comfort during camp activities.

BREAKING: NYSC | 2026 BATCH B STREAM 1

Here is A Re-cap Of Mobilization Activities That Have Been Concluded With Respect To 2026 Batch B Stream 1.

1. NYSC announced that the 2026 Batch B Stream 1 orientation course will commence across all states orientation camps from 10th to 30th June, 2026.

2. Call-up letter which contains the state a PCM is posted, will be released on Sunday 7th or Monday 8th of June 2026.

3. In preparation for camp, call-up numbers were recently released to some PCMs especially those that registered March, although few March PCMs didn't get theirs while many others who registered with the supplementary portal in April are yet to receive theirs or unable to access their dashboards which is a general issue. Note that sometimes call-up numbers are usually released gradually or in tranche, so PCMs who are yet to receive theirs still have hope and you are advised to keep checking.

4. As stated some weeks ago, it is now certain that NYSC portal will not open for online registration this Batch due to backlog PCMs from March and April.

5. Foreign-trained graduates who have completed online registration but are yet to be screened will have their physical verification exercise between 2nd - 4th June, 2026. All Foreign trained graduates with pending physical verification exercise are to login to their dashboard, select physical verification center of their choice and print their verification slip.

6. NYSC also further announced that only graduates who are NERD compliant will be registered at the orientation camp. The feature is now available in PCM dashboards and can currently be seen if you use the new NYSC site link.

All status whether “Pending”, "partial" or “Failed” will be updated accordingly in due time.
