Following up on our recent Mythology Club session on initiation and leadership, this post explores what happens when power goes untempered or abandoned. Without true rites of passage, some are consumed by power, while others reject it entirely—both remain uninitiated.

Through the myths of Narcissus and Pentheus, we examine how initiation was always meant to strip away what is false and return us not to rule, but to serve.

Meet Luna, a 9th grader student of mine, who lost himself in video games, feeling numb and disconnected in an uninspiring world. Through our journey together, he explored the wisdom of his nervous system and the healing power of nature. Eco-centric practices and storytelling helped him find resilience and emotional balance.

Learn more about this journey and many like it in an upcoming class I am providing. As a former High School Leader and Teacher, I want to offer a practice that has transformed so many students like Luna. One that the public school system has been shy to discuss but current research supports.
