What a fanatic golf tournament we had today to raise money for our seniors! Thank you to everyone who participated and supported the Susan Peterson Memorial Scholarship through the Weslaco S cholarship Foundation! We will provide the students in the top 15% an $800 scholarship this year once again!

Next week is graduation and the top 15% of our students at all 4 high schools will be receiving the Susan Peterson Memorial Scholarship through the Weslaco Scholarship Foundation. We are so proud of all our seniors as they have worked so hard this year to overcome the obstacles placed before them!

The WSF would like to say " CONGRATULATIONS" to the Class of 2021!

The BBQ pit fundraiser ticket drawing was scheduled for May 1, 2021 at the golf tournament this weekend. Since the golf tournament was canceled a few weeks back, the foundation decided to have the raffle today, during school hours on school grounds.

The raffle was held at 12:00 p.m. at Weslaco East High School. Members of the foundation were present and the tickets were drawn by WISD staff members (that are not part of the Weslaco Scholarship Foundation).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!

This page is sponsored by the Weslaco Scholarship Foundation through WISD. The scholarships the students will receive next month after graduation come from our foundation, which receives donations from the staff at WISD and local businesses during our golf tournament.

This page cannot accept donations for the scholarship, which has been renamed the Susan Peterson Memorial Scholarship. However, we are looking into providing a cash app next year for the foundation in order to accept monetary donations. We will keep you posted.

Until then, if you would like to donate to the Weslaco Scholarship Foundation for the student's scholarships, please contact Thelma Lopez at 956-969-6500. Any organization, previous graduating class, group or individual is welcome to donate or host fundraising events. We can also post those events on here if you message us.

The Weslaco Scholarship Foundation was established in the spring of 2004 to provide scholarships to the top graduates of Weslaco High School, Weslaco East High School, South Palm Gardens High School and CTE Early College High School.

We receive donations each month from many employees of the Weslaco Independent School District through payroll deduction. We also have employees who write checks directly to the Foundation throughout the year. The Foundation receives financial support from various businesses and private citizens both in and out of Weslaco and from sponsors of the WSF Golf Tournament that is held in May.

Mrs. Susan Peterson, the founder of this scholarship, left her duties as Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education and Leadership here in WISD when she passed away on December 14, 2020. In her honor, the scholarships our students receive will now be renamed The Susan Peterson Memorial Scholarship.

Mrs. Peterson was an exceptional leader, and outstanding individual and had a love and passion for all students. She is greatly loved and missed and as a foundation, we are proud to honor her memory.
