Feed Me Words is excited to partner with the United Way of West Alabama in launching a new Wash, Read, Repeat location. The Wash, Read, Repeat program encourages children and families to engage in reading and literacy activities while completing a weekly household chore—doing laundry. By creating inviting reading nooks inside local laundromats, the program ensures that young children have access to high-quality books and early literacy resources.

Strong oral language is the foundation that makes reading possible later on. What you do in the early years truly matters.

Getting dressed is a perfect time to build language.

Instead of doing it quietly, try narrating what’s happening:
“Let’s put your arm in… now your other arm… shirt on!”

Hearing words paired with actions helps children understand and use language.

You don’t need extra time—just use the moments you already have.
