Best of luck to all my lovely Year 6s this week as they embark on the emotional journey of KS2 SATs week. Stay calm, do your best and remember you are an individual with your own strengths, regardless of what these assessments state. Xx
Re-sharing a poem I think sums it up well.

π₯My year 3 maths workshop was an Easter egg huntπ₯
Not just any egg hunt though, an equivalent fraction egg hunt! π
The boys worked hard together to find equivalent fractions using manipulatives to compare whether they would prefer 2/3 of a chocolate egg or 4/6 among other "Would you rather?" puzzles.
They searched the garden for equivalent fractions to match with their previous egg clue and couldn't pick up any that weren't equivalent. They then lay them all out in order and found alternative equivalent fractions to match the ones they had. There may have been a chocolate prize at the end... π« π

Year 3 Book club was looking at inference with Gozzle. How can we describe the characters based on clues in the text? How can we tell what they are feeling at different points in the story?
Lots of discussion, lots of clever ideas.
This book is beautiful: lovely depiction of the seasons (we discussed clues in the illustrations that show us it is set during spring and how we can tell that the seasons change later on - there was a beautiful discussion about how colours make you feel, e.g. at emotional moments, the colours used are chosen specifically to depict certain emotions)

I am extremely proud to announce the results for the Visit Reading Christmas Writing Competition 2025:
My 6 year old son, Christopher, won the short story competition for his age bracket (5-11 years)!
One of my students, Jacob, won the poetry competition for the same age bracket!
These are huge successes for these boys and I am so proud of both of them!
In addition to these wins, my student Mia's poem received high commendation in the Young Adult age bracket. Well done Mia! She speed-wrote her poem in one lesson with no preparation too, so an extra win for her efforts!
