For years, I flew to dive trips with a carry-on, sometimes 2, and then checked 2 more bags on top of that. And every single time I got home and unpacked, there was gear in there I never even took out of the bag.

It's kind of like the junk drawer in your kitchen. We're not keeping any of that because we need it. It's just easier to have it all than to decide what to keep.

This time I flew to Cozumel for a full week of warm water diving with every piece of dive gear I needed in one carry-on backpack.

Fins, regs, wetsuit, 2 computers, DSMB, mask, weight pockets, BCD, etc.

Tag a dive buddy who checks 2 bags for a dive trip.

Here's a question I couldn't answer about my own diving. Could you draw your last dive on a piece of paper? Where you went, where you turned around, how you got back to the boat?

Honestly, I couldn't either. We surface, we look at the computer, and we get a depth graph and a little squiggly line that tells us what our dive profile was, right? But your phone does more than that on a simple walk around the block, and it draws the whole route out on a map.

Suunto sent me their Nautic and the Tank POD to test, and this is the one thing it does that I haven't seen another computer do. No GPS underwater at all. It worked well enough on a reef drift in Cozumel that I went and read up on how it's even possible, and then it got a wreck dive completely wrong.

New video is up. What it does that nothing else does, the things I didn't like about it, and where it lands once you put the real prices of a Peregrine TX, a Perdix 3 and an X50i next to it.

Suunto had zero say in the script or the direction of the video, and they're seeing it the same time you are.

If you've ever done a shore entry over loose rocks in soft booties, you know that feeling where your ankle is doing a lot of work and you're just kind of hoping you don't roll it before you're even in the water.

That's exactly what got me looking at hard soled boots in the first place. Then I got talking with the guy behind OTB at DEMA last year, he had me try a pair on right there at the show, and he ended up sending me a pair of the Pirata Elite to actually test. These are the boots that were designed for Navy SEALs.

So I dove them to test them out. About 25 dives, warm water and cold, boat entries and shore entries, plus some snorkeling over rock and urchins where I wanted something on my feet.

New video is up with what they got right, the two things that would stop me recommending them to everyone, and who I think should actually buy a boot like this versus who should save the money.

OTB sent them to me for free, but they had no say in any of it and they're seeing the video the same time you are.
