Nursing school, but make it Valentine’s Day 💘

Tuesday, we had the opportunity to represent the WVU School of Nursing Beckley Campus at WVU Day at the Legislature.

We spent the day talking with legislators, sharing hands-on health education, answering questions about nursing school, and showing what it looks like when learning goes beyond the classroom. From community education to advocacy (and yes, a giant inflatable colon), we were able to highlight how nursing students are being prepared to serve West Virginia in real, meaningful ways.

Our School of Nursing community is coming together to support one of our fellow nursing students during an incredibly difficult time. Their mother has passed away unexpectedly, and our classmate is navigating this heartbreaking loss while continuing their nursing journey.

Nursing takes compassion, grit, and a whole lot of heart. This season reminds us how lucky we are to learn, teach, and practice in a profession built on those values.

The winner of the SNA Gingerbread Contest is group 3: Dough-not Resuscitate! Congratulations to our sophomore group: Raynee, Daisy, Aly, and Raven!

Thank you to everyone who voted and helped make our first SNA Gingerbread Decorating Contest such a sweet success! Our students put so much creativity and holiday spirit into their designs, and we loved seeing all the support from our community. 🎄💙💛

Our student elves have been busy this week putting together a Nursing Christmas Tree for the season, and we can’t wait for everyone to see their hard work. It makes a perfect photo spot for families and friends.

The Beckley Christmas Parade begins at 11 a.m., and after the parade, campus will be hosting Cookies with Santa at the WVU Tech Neville Street building. Our School of Nursing students will be there with stethoscope giveaways, stickers, and plenty of holiday cheer.

If you’re out enjoying the parade, stop in afterward and celebrate with us. We look forward to seeing everyone.

Our Student Nurses’ Association crew turned the classroom into a little holiday hangout on Thursday.

We watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the Jim Carrey classic), sipped hot chocolate, and took our gingerbread house decorating very seriously.
