The Erasmus+ project CORDIALIS (2022-2024) is developed by 4 partners in 4 European countries (France, Italy, Finland and Lithuania).

Project aims to create an international learning tool that will be freely accessible to everyone.

CORDIALIS Video Compilation PR1 PR2 PR3 22/02/2026

The CORDIALIS project aims to enhance remote areas by promoting high-quality online exchanges and raising awareness of local cultural and craft heritage. It provides methodological tools and practical materials that allow European citizens — including those living or working in remote areas — to build connections and foster both virtual and live exchanges.
The project functions as an educational and methodological journey, structured into three resource packages, each focused on a specific theme and designed for target groups such as teachers, artisans, and cultural mediators. Each package includes theoretical insights, detailed activity proposals, and examples, along with suggestions for adapting them to different contexts. All materials shown in the video can be freely downloaded from cordialiserasmus.com, available in five languages: English, Finnish, French, Italian, and Lithuanian.

**Tourism, culture and craftsmanship: a web of opportunities!**

Cultural heritage lies at the heart of European identity, and cultural tourism accounts for **40% of all tourism activities in Europe** (UNWTO, 2018). Today, visitors seek authentic experiences made of art, traditions and local flavours — a unique opportunity also for **artisans**, guardians of knowledge and creativity.

The **CORDIALIS project** and its handbook *“Art-based activities to promote local and rural cultural heritage”* offer practical ideas and participatory activities to help artisans and cultural professionals **communicate better online**, enhance their work and attract new customers.

A journey across **Italy, Lithuania, Finland and France**, promoting rural culture and traditional skills by combining art, community and digital innovation.

Telepresence robot and hybrid teaching

In the CORDIALIS project, a telepresence robot was utilised to create a hybrid setting in a Spanish classroom during one of the workshops. A telepresence robot is a remotely controlled video conferencing tool that can move around in a space, such as a classroom. The robot is a wheeled conveyor that is equipped with a tablet computer that establishes video and audio links between the teacher and the remote participants; the device displays the person's face and voice, and the person can see and hear the other classmates via a we**am and microphone, and the wheel allows the learner to change the robot’s location within the classroom. It allows hybrid teaching, online and in-person teaching at the same time, in a manner that will make the online learners less dependent on the teacher.

If you want to learn more on hybrid teaching, see our handbook available in 4 languages:

In the CORDIALIS project, we recorded and analyzed social interactions to explore the concepts of skills and competencies. We started from the idea that a skill or competence should be understood in the context of the social situation in which it is used, i.e., in social interaction. The descriptions of skills that we propose are therefore all empirical in nature, i.e., based on the analysis of video data of social interactions.

If you would like to learn more about the linguistic foundations of social interactions, consult our handbook, available in four languages:

In this CORDIALIS handbook, you can find a self-assessment grid that will enable different audiences - mediation or teaching professionals, learners, students, participants in cultural workshops - to gain a better understanding of how video-mediated and face-to-face interaction work, as well as their own interactional skills.

This grid helps to refine the ways of interacting, gaining confidence, motivation and the ability to collaborate in cultural mediation activities linked to cultural heritage, the presentation of craft objects or language learning.

This grid is part of applied research aimed at gaining a better understanding of interactional skills and can be used to support the teaching/learning/training of people in the field of cultural mediation, language learning and the presentation of craft objects.

More generally, this handbook may be of interest to anyone, whether professional or simply curious, who wants to learn more about the nature of interactional skills and social interaction.

The handbook is available here:

The CORDIALIS project developed a manual called “Self-assess interaction skills in cultural and language learning activities” that complements the training manual for interaction skills in cultural mediation and language learning situations.

In this handbook, readers will find a set of theoretical and practical tools for evaluating their practice in cultural mediation and language learning situations, both face-to-face and at a distance, whether they are professionals, volunteers, learners or participants.

The handbook is available here:
https://www.cordialiserasmus.eu/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/EN_Self-assess-inter-skills.pdf

In our Cordialis-method, we recorded and analyzed in detail the very beginning of a meeting between a group of five students, one of whom has the role of facilitator. The activity tested consisted of the facilitator showing a series of images to the other participants and inviting them to interact on this basis.

This extract shows a key moment in the interaction, because if the instructions are not understandable, the participants risk proposing inappropriate responses, not understanding the aims of the activity or encountering other problems.

To follow the analysis of this extract and see the mechanisms of interaction dissected, consult our resource available in four languages:

In order to increase awareness of the organisational mechanism of social interaction and to learn more about the different skills that are mobilised when constructing a topic of conversation, the Cordialis project shows you a method on how to collect and analyse elements of conversation, using video recordings.
You will find a detailed description of this method in our resources called “Training manual”, available in four languages:
