These five soil-forming factors have different influences, causing different soil horizons to form.

Scientists use the differences or similarities of soil horizons to categorize similar soils into soil series. The properties of each soil series influence soil management decisions.

Professional Practice
First assignment we got and it was a group assignment, which is based on what we learned during the class. We focused on Financial Management after we discussed stuff like repo rate, interest rate, inflation and what impact they have on South African citizens livelihood during and after Covid-19.

This is what I've been working on so far, been brainstorming before I meet up with the group.

The purpose of this site visit was to analyze the site. We took pictures of the vegetation surrounding the Princess Vlei and identified them. We also looked at the soil conditions and that was the preparation for the upcoming assignment.

Soon we will be doing the site analysis assignment so being here and observing the site was a very good opportunity.

Our IDS lecturer, Mr. Abel organized this field trip to Princess Vlei, our study site used for this semester.

Construction 2B

Here, Ms Sally was giving a lesson more about Contour lines and that we have different types.
Existing contours and proposed contours. The existing contours are shown by dashed lines whereas proposed contours are shown as solid lines.

The day has come.
The crit day.
Finally!! We are done with the model and everything, now we just waiting for the crit and evaluation. So much work and money we put to make this project successful.

Please Mr. Abel don't be harsh on us, we tried our best.😂

IDS Crit:
This is my group model.
Mr Abel and his colleague were going around the class looking all the groups model and giving marks.

This is how they crit us.
1. We should have worked more on it, which I agree because it seemed like it needed some effort which we couldn't provide.
2. We should have mentioned conservative boundary, we had boundaries but we messed up on mentioning the correct ones.
3. The construction is well, which is a good thing but since we were busy doing touch ups, we ended up messing it a little bit.

The feedback was good, we got to know what needed more work for future purposes.

Contour Model.
We're about to be finished with the model and start the individuals one. That's right, we must not forget that after finishing the group model we have to start working on our individual one.

This is just a process of what we have so far.

Day 3
The work, the process. If I must say myself, my group had a good teamwork. Everyone was present and we were all giving a hand, cutting cardboards, no one hesitated because we were enjoying the process while learning about something new everything. Putting all our efforts and assisting each other was great.

There was nothing much, just the introduction of what the module will be about as the semester started.

Contour Model: Princess Vlei
After we were done with the group model, we had to focus on the individual model. Each and everyone in the group was given a plan with a scale of 1:200.

We had a base plan of the site Princess Vlei, and all we had to do was to trace it on A3 paper but draw contour lines.
