Jointly organised by the CUHK LAW CCTL and the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary University of London, the EU-Asia Aviation Law Forum aims to engage in debates on aviation law issues in the EU and Asia. The 4th EUโAsia Aviation Law Forum will examine the expanding concept of fair competition in international aviation. European airlines have long argued that competition with Middle Eastern carriers is unfair, mainly because of alleged government subsidies and regulatory asymmetries.

This talk reevaluates the literary and historical significance of native Chinese crime fiction in the late Qing and early Republican period (1900sโ1910s). Using Mrs. Chun Nรฉe E (Chun A Shi ๆฅ้ฟๆฐ, before 1911), a hybrid novel of detective fiction and romantic tragedy, as an example, Dr Zhao shows that the authorโs mixture of narrative conventions is an attempt to domesticate detective fiction for a local audience and is key to the novelโs success.

Drawing on detailed comparisons of the development trajectories of solar PV and electrolyzers in China, policy and regulatory support, technological pathways, shifting trade realities, and corporate dynamics, this seminar aims to explore why Chinaโs rapid progress in electrolyzers is hard to follow the same export-led, cost-crushing trajectory as solar PV. Whether you work in academia or industry, this session provides a timely opportunity to explore the opportunities, limits, and risks shaping the future of renewable hydrogen.

Government venture capital funds (GVCs) are a global phenomenon. GVCs are central players in Chinaโs VC market, now the second largest globally. While existing literature often depicts Chinaโs GVCs as a successful public effort to promote entrepreneurship, Ms. Isabelle Zhang's paper presents an alternative view. In this seminar, she will explore the effect of city-level GVC programs on entrepreneurship, as proxied by the formation of new businesses.
