What a year. In December of 2024, these 3 guys and I committed to each other that by the end of 2025 they’d all be running offices. Thanks to their hard work and the insane commitment from and - along with their amazing teams - we worked together to make this a reality. Thanks to these 3 for being blessings in my life. Can’t wait to see what you accomplish in 2026!

Texas, we’re officially IN Spec’s! 🤠🥃
From a tiny brand we built on nights and weekends…
to waking up Thursday and finding out we’re now in 100+ Spec’s stores across the Lone Star State (and the birthplace of my partner )— we’re beyond grateful.
This is exciting. This is humbling.
And this is just the beginning.
To everyone who’s believed in Shortbarrel — THANK YOU.
Cheers to Texas and cheers to growth! 🥃✨

When did you last clean your fish tank? Part 2

At the start of this year, as I was going through my personal goals, I re-dedicated myself to my daily reading, re-reading The Four Agreements and The Untethered Soul, reading The Mastery of Love, and working on reintroducing daily discipline to my life.

I immediately restarted reading The Daily Stoic, The Daily Dad, and The Book of Awakening daily with my morning coffee.  I missed a day here and there but just caught up the next day.  I stopped mid January last year - with a few days sprinkled in - because I felt like, by missing a few days, I already failed the year.  HOW FU***NG STUPID IS THAT??? It’s like getting 3 “no’s” in a sales day and going home!  I also noticed that, last year, I was on social media more, I was more obsessed with the crap news coming out of the world, I was more irritable, and I was more angry.  Hmmmmmm, coincidence??? Probably not.

I got through the Four Agreements already, finished Dave Anderson’s new book, Elevate Your Excellence (which is fire!), and am almost done with the Mastery of Love - which I will follow up with The Untethered Soul.

Last weekend I was walking by the fishtank and, instead of seeing a nasty, dirty fish tank, I saw something different - I saw a mirror.  Maybe I wasn’t really irritated with the ugly tank or with no one wanting to help.  MAYBE I was seeing a reflection of the algae that I had let accumulate in other areas of my life.  So I enlisted my youngest to help - and we cleaned the tank, changed the water, had to wash the filter THREE times, and got it all polished up.  For the last week, every time I see the tank, it puts a little simple smile on my face.  It’s a good reminder that how we see things in the world is a remarkable reflection of how we see ourselves - and that both are a choice - but a choice that takes some work, discipline, and dedication. I think I’m going to venture up to my favorite fish store and pick up a few new fish for my little yellow buddy and some snails to help keep the tank clean.  I also just learned that, if you take a .5 of a fish, it’s pretty cute.
