Check out what PGY3 Alex Hilbmann has been up to this winter: “I spent four days at the Stowe EM Conference in Stowe, VT! The conference itself was held directly in Stowe Mountain Resort offering four days of diverse lectures regarding the latest research on Emergency medicine, Critical Care, Pediatric EM, Addiction Medicine, Wellness, Mentorship, and much more! There were also several workshops offered which included hands on experience with wilderness medicine, pediatric airway, and ultrasound!

As for outside of the conference this was my first time in Stowe (and Vermont in general) so I spent the rest of my time exploring the local trails with my puppy Whiskey, tasting the wonderful beers and ciders from local breweries, visiting the local Ben and Jerry’s Factory where half of the country’s B&J ice cream is made, and of course, skiing! I had a great time both at this conference and in Stowe and hope to return in the future!”

PGY3 and chief resident Dr. Erica Westlake presented two case studies recently with the Cooper palliative team at the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Annual Assembly in Denver, CO! This conference allows for trainees and faculty to come together for lectures, QI projects, case presentations and the latest in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Erica will be starting her fellowship in Hospice & Palliative Medicine this summer at Emory and is ALSO the recipient of a recent “Great Catch” for delivering a baby in the ED 🐣
