We’ve been led to believe that ‘knowing more’ makes us better coaches.

We’re sold extra courses and research reviews, rather than opportunities for skill development.

It helps us feel smart in the short term, but our clients aren’t better off for it.

That’s why next week, and I are hosting the Knowledge To Practice workshop inside Body Image Fundamentals.

We’ll be running through a common sticking point in body image work, and you’ll get the opportunity to practice your skills with other coaches doing this work.

We hope to see you there!

In the meantime, comment SKILLSET to learn the 6 core skills you need to support clients with their body image and relationship with food, so you can be effective - not just knowledgeable.

Clients not checking in?

I’ve just fixed your form for you.

It’s not about the perfect question.

The real reason clients don’t fill it out?
👉 They feel shame about their ‘lack of progress.’
👉 They criticise themselves for not knowing better.
👉 They’re worried you’re gonna judge them too.

Your role as a coach is to provide a compassionate coaching relationship that changes how clients relate to themselves.

Comment ‘SKILLSET’ and I’ll send you the Coaching Skills Series.

You’ll learn about:
→ The six specific competencies that make you a highly effective coach
→ Where your biggest areas for growth lie
→ What it takes to develop them

You already care about helping people live better lives.

Now it’s time to become skilled at facilitating that.

Learning is an active process, so here is how I make sure I get the most out of what I’m reading!

Paying extra attention to:
• Questions I have
• How this applies to my work
• Claims I disagree with

Help me get way more out of it than just reading and forgetting about it one week later.

And there is something incredibly satisfying about a dog eared, scribbled-in-the-margins, well-tabbed book.

Whatcha been reading recently?

You’re here because you want to help people build a relationship with food, fitness and their body that actually adds value to their life.

When you care that much, it often goes hand in hand with a fear of causing harm, saying the wrong thing, or letting people down.

And it’s hard to truly help people when you’re full of self doubt.

Compassion helps you work with those fears -

And it’s one of 6 core coaching skills that are necessary to deliver a service that truly makes a difference.

What happens when a client is frustrated they’re not losing weight?

You understand nutrition science, how energy balance works, signs of a negative body image...

But what do you say in the moment?

If you go blank, panic ,or rush in with reassurance, it’s not because you’re a bad coach.

It’s because you’ve never been taught the procedural and interpersonal skills you need to put what you know into practice.

Want to change that?

Comment CCI and I’ll send you the Coaching Competencies Indicator.

You’ll learn about:
→ The six specific competencies that make you a highly effective coach
→ Where your biggest areas for growth lie
→ What it takes to develop them

You already care about helping people live better lives.
Now it’s time to become skilled at facilitating that.

I loved the FAP intensive I took last year.

Not just for the client application, but for how it challenged me to take risks and show up more authentically in my own life.

Providing a compassionate relationship for clients requires more than good intentions and a desire to help.

It takes training and practice.

Training to cultivate it in yourself AND in a session.

We’ll be diving deep into these specific skills in the Deliberate Practice workshop later this month.

Details coming next week 👀

Two important life lessons:

1. Discern when to take an opinion on board, and when not to

2. Never be the bigger person

That is all xo
