After grueling days of deliberation in the committee level, the Quezon City Council finally passed the ordinance creating new plantilla positions at QCU such as nurses, librarians, guidance councilors, and University Registrar. Kudos to our hardworking acting HRD Director, Dr. Rina Palmiano, and no amount of words can exactly describe on the priceless support extended by OIC President Dr. Endriga and the rest of the top management for making this initiative a big piece of history for the entire QCU community.

Today's webinar on Gender and Development will mainly touch on Gender Mainstreaming. The organizers of today's event are privileged to have Dr. Gina A. Opiniano as the resource speaker. Dr. Opiniano is a full time faculty member of the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts and Letters, University of Santo Tomas where she also finished her doctorate degree in Philosophy. Her undergraduate degree in Political Science was obtained from Saint Loius University, and her master's degree from the University of the Philippines Diliman. She is frequently invited to give talks on her two major areas of interest namely feminist philosophy and gender studies. Apart from teaching, she works as research consultant for the Philippine Institute for Development studies. The webinar will be aired on live at 2 PM via RESD FB Page.

Tomorrow's webinar on Gender and Development will mainly center on Gender Awareness. Dr. Mary Pauline V. Saquing will do the honor of broadening the discussion on Gender Awareness. Dr Saquing obtained her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Nursing from Saint Mary's University. She finished her doctorate in Educational Administration at Pamantasan Lungsod ng Maynila and is current pursuing a graduate degree in Bioethics at the University of the Philippines Manila. She is a research consultant for the Philippine Institute for Development Studies and the President and CEO of Pathways Center for Lifelong Learning, Inc. Among her areas of interest are health education and youth empowerment, programs and projects of which are integrated with gender advocacy such as the conception of PATHWAYS whose flagship program is on gender and development.

The organizers on the series of webinars for Gender And Development amidst Pandemic are very overwhelmed with the huge number of registrants even coming from various parts of the Philippines. Today's webinar will mainly focus on two primary topics, The Relevance of Gender Advocacy in the New Normal and Gender Laws and Policies. Our keynote speakers can definitely offer an enlightening discussion on the matters very fluently.

Ms. Marine Rouch is a PhD candidate in Women and Gender History, and teaching assistant in history at Toulouse and Lille Universities in France. Her research interests include contemporary history of women and gender, literary and reading, history intellectual, and Simone de Beauvoir's philosophy.

Atty. Dennis E. Pulma is the Third Division Exceutive Clerk of Court of the Sandiganbayan. A gender advocate, his contribution include his participation in the crafting of the IRR of the Magna Carta for Women of known as RA 9710, among others. He is often invited to speak about gender awareness and gender sensitivity to various institutions and groups.

Another milestone for Quezon City University as the Education Committee of the QC City Council presided by Councilor Irene Belmonte tackled a city ordinance creating new plantilla positions for Guidance Councilors, Librarians, Nurses and Registrar. This measure could not be possible without the collaboration and cooperation of the offices of HRD, RESD, VPA and OP.

The Human Resources Department of QCU conducted a pre-employment orientation yesterday into two batches at San Francisco Campus. OIC President Dr. Victor Endriga graced the event by rendering an inspirational remark before the newly hired faculty applicants. The goal of the pre-employment orientation is to help the new employees feel welcomed, integrated into the organization, and performing the new job successfully as quickly as possible.Also, the gathering gave them the opportunity to get acquainted with the university officials through its organizational structure presented in the orientation. The orientation was chiefly presided by the acting HRD director, Dr Rina Ramos Palmiano. QCU HRD is comprised of two units, the Manpower and Planning Unit headed by Mr.Marcelino Decena while the Compensation and Benefits units is headed by Prof. Joan Mariano. To all newly hired faculty applicants, welcome to Quezon City University.
