Alvin ASL

While we do offer homeschool classes through 2 area groups, I wanted to take a moment to highlight this particular class at Inspire Christian Homeschool Academy . This is a very unique class where we will focus completely on teaching ASL for use in performing. This class is great for any signing skill level because we will cover the vocabulary and all related signs needed for each song, story, or other performance individually as we are covering them. Performance-style ASL involves ASL, PSE (contact signing), and sometimes a little SEE, along with learning to use some theater related skills. Don't let fear of learning a new language stop you from signing up for this one - beginners are as welcome as advanced level students. It is going to be a really fun class and we will be having a performance at the end of each semester. It is guaranteed to be filled with lots of signs, lots of movement, lots of excitement, and lots of laughter! If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Class are weekly on Tuesdays starting on September 9th.

Psssst...please share this with any homeschool families you know. We will not be offering a homeschool ASL class through Alvin Parks & Rec this semester. We are, however, offering different homeschool classes through two different area homeschool groups. One is in Pearland ( Pearland Homeschool Connection ) starting in August, and the other is just outside of Alvin on 1462 (Inspire Christian Homeschool Academy )and starts in September.
The Pearland classes are formal, graded courses for grades 4-12. The ASL I & II classes are grades 7-12 and count as an LOTE credit on your high school transcripts, even if taken in 7th or 8th grade. The Alvin classes are ungraded enrichment courses and at that location we also offer a unique class called ASL Storytelling & Song Signing that is performance-based and guaranteed to be a blast!
